Mattel Debuts New MOTUC Teela & DCUC The Question 2-Ups

by Jay Cochran
June 22, 2009
TNI reader The Great Bandito was on hand at the Wizard World Philly convention this weekend where he snapped some images of the Mattel 2-ups on display at the Four Horsemen booth. Most of the items were items previously shown except for the first look at a painted 2-up for the upcoming Masters of the Universe Classic Teela. Also shown are 2-ups for Mattel's Ghostbusters and DCUC figures.

Check out the images below in our GALLERY and thanks again to The Great Bandito for the images and see what else Bandito found out while talking to Cornboy of the Four Horsemen in our comments section.

Hm they could do a good plastic boxed package but with ground/or a drawbridge or something as the box display part

Tytus maybe?

I hope it's not Battle Cat. That would be a little bit of a letdown since we know he's coming, and Toyguru has said he'll be on display at SDCC. I hope it truly is a figure right out of left field somewhere.

I do remember Mattel stating that at the end of this year they were going to release a figure to solidify the fact that

this is a collectors line. Now I'm really excited. I also believe and hope that its someone completely out of left field

because it will be likely that they have have never been released before, I don't think its an obscure character that

has been released, I could be wrong, but that's the vibe I'm getting with so much mystery surrounding this unknown.

A lot of people have theories, but based on Cornboy's words, I honestly don't have a guess. I'm pretty sure I'll be excited with whomever it is, though. I'm kind of thinking that the character will use some parts we've already seen since most/all of 2009's figures have other than Teela. The part about no one seeing it coming is what throws me because as MOTU die-hards, there are few (if any) we wouldn't see coming. Maybe Demo-Man? @hmmm@

Orko would be cool.

2-ups? Oh 2:1 ratio in terms of size. I always thought this meant prototype or something.

Battle Cat was announced back at NYCC.

and according to Mattel in one of our Q&A's he will be bigger than a regular figure

TNI: You mentioned before that Battlecat would be coming to the MOTUC line. Will something like this cost the same as the other MOTUC figures or will it be more; if more can you tell us how much so people can plan to save up for this one?

Mattel: We are still looking at the price point, but yes, Battlecat will be larger than a regular figure and will be higher priced.

Faker was a convention exclusive, too, but he came on a regular card (though he became March's figure, he was originally to be just an exclusive). He-Ro is also a convention exclusive that will have a standard card. Grayskull was boxed because of the electronics and packaging he came in, not because he was an exclusive.

Anyway, I think of Battle Cat as a character rather than a beast or vehicle, so that's why I could see him coming boxed but as a regular monthly figure.

I stand corrected on the Battle Cat confirmation, though I was thinking I missed something more specific.

Are you kidding me? Battle Cat is going to be HUGE and there is no way in hell that he will fit in a MOTUC blister card. Besides, Mattel has already confirmed that Battle Cat will be available in early 2010.

No, I'm not kidding you. And who said anything about blister cards? November's figure is unknown at this point. Mattel hasn't come out and said that each month the figure released will fit on a standard MOTUC blister card. Look at King Grayskull -- he came in a box.

I don't believe the figure will be Battle Cat. I just stated my preference that it not be him.

And when did they confirm Battle Cat for early 2010? I've read every Q&A on every site for the last 10 months and I don't remember hearing a confirmation of Battle Cat in early 2010.

Dude, Grayskull was a Convention Exclusive figure which is why he was boxed rather than carded. Battle Cat was confirmed to be released in early 2010. Read the quote below straight from He-Man.org:

8) Will Battle Cat be released early in 2010, or rather lately?

He will be released early in 2010. More details will be announced at SDCC.
