Captain Action and Round 2 Announce Toy Line

Captain Action Enterprises, LLC and Round 2 LCC have announced plans for a new toy line featuring the world’s first superhero action figure, Captain Action.

Like the classic toy of the 1960’s, this new line will feature 12” action figures and popular super hero costumes.

Recently relaunched, Captain Action has gathered fan and collector interest with comic books, apparel and collectibles. The brand has generated a buzz with collectors, retailers, and even comic conventions.

The new line will be designed to appeal to passionate collectors, as well as new fans and young kids. The Captain Action toys will be available at major retailers, specialty stores and online.

Originally, costume sets allowed Captain Action to change into heroes such as Spider-Man, Batman, and the Lone Ranger.

That tradition will continue. The 2011 plans, partnering with a major super hero company, will be announced in the coming weeks. “ We’re anxious to announce our Licensor. This deal affords us the opportunity to re-create some of the old costumes, as well as new ones, all featuring some of the hottest and most popular superheroes!” said Ed Catto of Captain Action Enterprises, LLC.

Thomas E. Lowe, Owner and President of Round 2 said “Well, I never thought I would get a second chance with Captain Action. We brought back the toys in the 90’s when I owned Playing Mantis and we did a few small things wrong and the line never met the collector’s’ expectations. Additionally, we never had a major Licensor on board. We have learned from our mistakes and this time we are doing it right! We’ll launch the line with an awesome major comic book license that I know will blow the collector community away. Captain Action lives and I am proud to be a part if it!

Bob Plant, Creative Director of Round 2, is excited to be reunited with his old friend Captain Action. “Captain Action was my first and favorite action figure. I still have my original CA that I received as a gift for my 6th birthday We think fans of the ol’ Captain will be pleased with what we’ve come up with! Thanks to Captain Action Enterprises, the keepers of the CA flame, for renewing interest in this great character.” Bob is diligently designing a line that is both true to its heritage and capitalizes on recent innovations.

“This is what we’ve been working towards as we’ve been rebuilding this franchise,” said Joe Ahearn of Captain Action Enterprises, LLC. “The fans are excited and the general public, and retailers, will just love this line!”

Shown below in our GALLERY is the deluxe packaging version of the figure which will be sold as an exclusive in the specialty shop market. The product shown is a prototype and subject to change.
