Yu Darvish followed in the footsteps of previous successful Japanese pitchers who made the journey to play in Major League Baseball. Before joining the MLB this year, Darvish was widely recognized as the best Japanese pitcher in the Nippon Professional Baseball league, posting 18 wins and a 1.44 ERA in his last season. In 2012, Darvish signed a contract with the Texas Rangers for $60 million (over six years) and his first full season with the team has mainly been a success. He currently has 16 wins and is third in MLB for strikeouts.
