LEGO Systems, Inc. today announced retail availability of LEGO Games The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the newest addition to its portfolio of constructable board games based on the film premiering December 14, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM). The company will launch a virtual "Roll to Win Giveaway" on the LEGO Games Facebook page starting October 8, 2012.

Fans who are eagerly awaiting the film can now experience a most unexpected journey in the form of a board game that can be built, played and changed. True to the LEGO Games experience, players must first build the game and the die using the LEGO bricks and elements provided, then choose from microfigure characters Gandalf, Dwalin, Kili or Fili to search for 10 missing Dwarves and help Bilbo Baggins on his trek. The player who finds the most Dwarves wins the game. The newest addition to the LEGO Games collection, suggested for players ages seven and up, is now available in the board game aisles of most toy, discount merchandise and specialty stores nationwide for $34.99.

To celebrate the game's launch, the LEGO Games will host The Hobbit "Roll to Win Giveaway" on the LEGO Games' Facebook page. Beginning October 8, fans will be able to roll a virtual dice for the chance to win a variety of prizes, including a grand prize package of LEGO The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey board game, a LEGO Games gameplay hosting kit, all new LEGO The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey construction sets and two movie ticket vouchers to see the movie on the big screen. The grand prize winner will be announced in conjunction with the film release on December 14. Fans can visit Facebook.com/LEGOGames to play.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to add a unique board game-play experience alongside of our construction toys collection based on the film," said Christian Thor Larsen, senior brand director, LEGO Systems, Inc. "Fans are sure to enjoy interacting with characters and stories from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in LEGO Games form, and we're excited to take fan enthusiasm to the next level with our Facebook giveaway."

The LEGO Games collection caters to a wide range of ages, play types and price points. Each board game provides everything needed to start building and playing right out of the box, including customizable LEGO dice and separate building and game play instructions. LEGO Games are designed to be a new game every time they are played, encouraging children of all ages to build the game differently or change the rules and dice to keep the game play fresh and exciting.
