NECA Style 7" Predator Dutch's Team Figures By DJblizzard

This week's TNI Cool Custom is of NECA style 7" figures of Dutch's team from the original Predator movie. These customs were done by DJblizzard.

Here is how he describes the making of them.

"The Dutch figures recently released by NECA blew me away...so much so, that I desperately wished they would make the rest of his team. So, when word got out that they would not be making them, I decided that I wanted to have a set one way or another - even if it meant making them myself.

I started with Dillon, using the NECA Apollo Creed and a Jungle Patrol Dutch with some assorted parts. Once Dillon was finished, I was so happy with how he turned out that I was even more inspired to make the rest of the guys. Next came Billy, then Poncho, and before I knew it I had put them all together.

These are made using all NECA parts from assorted figures, a couple of Mattel WWE parts, and accessories from wherever I could find them.

I still need to detail and add parts, such as Hawkins' backpack and Billy's webgear, but I wanted to share where they were. I'm happy with how they turned out, and I'm content with them until maybe film accurate head sculpts become readily available, at which point I'd swap them out.

This was an absolute blast of a project, and I highly recommend that if you want a full team to fight your NECA Predators, go ahead and give it a shot!

For the heads:

Billy - WWE Mattel John Morrison
Blain - WWE Mattel Kane
Dillon - NECA Apollo Creed
Mac - WWE Mattel Ezekiel Jackson
Hawkins - NECA Prometheus David 8
Poncho - NECA T-1000 "

PREDATOR - PONCHO Updates

A few quick updates to Poncho. I found him a more film-accurate vest (from a Stargate Atlantis Col. Sheppard figure). I also modified the T-1000 head I originally used, to get the likeness a little closer: I sanded down his chin and jaw line to better match the shape of Poncho's face. Then, I repainted the head with a darker skin tone and tried to be more accurate/cleaner with the camo face paint this time.

Belmont - I'll definitely cue up Long Tall Sally for the video...I also advise listening to that and the Predator theme while looking at the pics, it really heightens the experience

Ron & strangefate, thank you!

So, I've been playing around some more with these guys, trying to refine and detail them...the main figure I've been tweaking has been Billy, as I wasn't very happy with his likeness and the head sat strangely on the body.

Here's the updated Billy, with new head and added details:

They turned out really great, instantly recognizable. Some of the shots work really well too

Totally amazing group of figures you did a hell of a job on all of them.

Wow that's one of the most awesome things I have seen in action figure form. Dude you gotta make a video of these figures with Long tall Sally playing on the background.

lOVE THE TEAM UP MADE!!!!! I was so inspired by your work i also did my own version. I did steal some ideas from you i must admit but where i could i made some changes. Like for blain i used the jackks jessie ventura upper body and married it to the neca dutch legs. and tried to use a different way to paint and mix and match weapons. The T 1000/ poncho was a good choice which i used but i cut the chin off and took clay and re shaped the chin. I also used i differant upper body. I used the T 1000 motorcycle cop upper body. and to apollo i used the 2 pack bloody version and tried to make the mouth guard look like a open/yelling mouth. I am still working oh hawkins which i soon hope to be finished with.

Great work man. Just to help or if you care You can use the old moor collectables witchblade figures shotgun and glue it to the m16 to make billies gun. and also the Mcfarlane al simmons figur where is is a rotting corps in marine gear is a good figure for accessories. The straps work great for billies straps and it also has a back pack for hawkins.

Thank you! I'm glad you were inspired...Dutch really needs backup.

I definitely want to see pics of your team when you're finished! I'm curious especially to see how your Blain and Poncho turn out.

I've been continuing to refine and detail the team since I posted. I found a better head for Billy that has a better likeness and I'm toying with the idea of giving him a more movie-accurate flak jacket/straps. I found a perfect backpack for Hawkins and I got Mac a more accurate gun/ammo box. For Poncho, I definitely want to revisit his head as well...resculpting the chin is a great idea! It might be worth resculpting the nose a little as well.

I'll post updates soon. Be sure to let me see pics of yours when you're finished!

WOW! Most people were content with just making Dillon but you went for the WHOLE CREW! Amazing customs. I'll have to steal them some how.
