McFarlane Designs Home Plate For Charity

by Outsiders
June 28, 2013
Todd McFarlane gets to combine two things that he loves – drawing and baseball.

McFarlane is participating in this year’s Home Plate Project, a fundraiser for local non-profits that gets local members of the Arizona community and celebrities to decorate home plates to auction off for charity. This year’s primary non-profit partner is Chicanos Por La Causa.

Clearly channeling his roots, McFarlane created an original drawing of Spider-Man with “spaghetti webbing,” a technique he created and used frequently while working on the Spider-Man comics during the 80’s. He later went on to create the wildly popular Spawn Comic.

You can view and bid on McFarlane’s plate, along with other celebrities work currently being auctioned on www.homeplateproject.com. Another home plate design that will catch your eye is the Man Of Steel home plate by Tim Demeter. Bidding ends in August.
