It makes sense because the Narada came back in time from 1701-E's era. Nero and his band of bitches retain their memory from the 2370's.

Though I could point out one thing in one of these clips that you could argue doesn't make sence even under the alternate reality senario. It's not a biggie as far as ruining the movie or anything and wait till after you all have seen the movie before I point it out, see if you all catch it ... read more

It's an alternate timeline. The movie is good but basically you have to except that it's not beholden to anything really established in previous Trek movies or tv shows.
