TNI Spotlight: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A From Art Asylum

We take a detailed look at Art Asylum's Star Trek: Starship Legends U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A. This 16" scaled ship re-creates the Starship Enterprise as it appeared in Star Trek IV-VI movies.





This authentic replica of the NCC-1701-A icludes sounds from the Star Trek sound library and light effects. By pushing the birdge dome you can hear the folowing sound effects:

- Phaser Attack
- Impluse Engines
- Transporter Beam
- Photon Torpedo's
- Warp Out
- Warp Pass By
- Enemy Attack

along with light up action, warp nacelles, impluse engines, bridge dome, and deflector dish.




Here are some pictures comparing the new Art Asylum version of the Enterprise A with Bandai's new snap together model kit version. Art Asylum's version is located on the right side.




Shown here is the new Art Asylum Enterprise A with their NX-01 that was released last year.




Before Art Asylum obtained the Star Trek toy license from Paramount Pictures, a company called Playmates was producing Star Trek toys. During that time they released several different version of the Enterprise themselves. Shown below are some comparison shots of those ships with Art Asylum's new NCC-1701-A.

First up is a comparison between Art Asylum's NCC-1701-A and Playamtes NCC-1701 (from the classic TV series). It should be noted that the decals have not been applied to the Playmates version.




Shown next is a comparison between Art Asylum's NCC-1701-A and Playmates NCC-1701-B. It should be noted that the decals have not been applied to the Playmates version.




Next up is a comparison between Art Asylum's NCC-1701-A and Playmates NCC-1701-D. It should be noted that the decals have not been applied to the Playmates version.
