For generations, Gene Roddenberry's STAR TREK has opened up new frontiers for millions of fans worldwide. The adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and the U.S.S. Enterprise have been broadcast to over 150 countries in dozens of languages. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original broadcast of the classic STAR TREK series, Diamond Select Toys and CBS Consumer Products have announced plans with several specially-designed action figures and collectibles.

The actual anniversary of the first STAR TREK broadcast will occur on September 8th, 2006 - a date which will be greeted with fan gatherings and conventions around the globe. That day will also mark the initial offering of a new Diamond Select Toys product: the Captain James T. Kirk Captain's Chair box set - featuring Captain Kirk in his classic gold uniform and an in-scale replica of his command chair from the classic ship. For fans of the original pilot, "The Cage," a special edition Captain Christopher Pike Captain's Chair box set will also be released with the original captain of the Enterprise.

This summer’s San Diego Comic-Con will see the release of four spectacular action figures from the fan-favorite and critically-acclaimed "Mirror, Mirror" episode. Finishing the "Mirror, Mirror" line, this summer will mark the debut of Lieutenant Uhura, Dr. McCoy, Lieutenant Sulu and Ensign Chekov, as they appeared in the Mirror Universe! Each figure will be available from a different exclusive retailer, and all four will be offered for the first time at the San Diego Comic-Con. Sculpted by Art Asylum, each exclusive will include episode-accurate accessories and will be in scale with the previously released "Mirror, Mirror" Kirk, Spock and Scotty figures.

In addition, building on the success of Diamond Select Toys' and Art Asylum's U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E ship, an expertly designed classic U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 ship will also be available this summer. With real light and sound effects taken directly from the iconic series, the crew of the Enterprise will fly again in this intricately designed and incredibly detailed piece.

"Fans of the Star Trek universe have very high standards, and we're looking forward to raising the bar even higher with our "Mirror, Mirror" exclusive figures and the classic Enterprise," stated Diamond Select Toys' Marketing and Sales Supervisor, Michael Leavey. "With our line of Star Trek: The Next Generation action figures continuing, we wanted to bring fans of the classic series a little something extra to celebrate the landmark 40th anniversary."
