John Wayne, the most prolific leading man in motion picture history, is also regarded as an icon of American values. Wayne’s unique appeal was rooted in his rasping growl of a voice, and bolstered by his choice of roles—cavalry officers, soldiers, cops ambling into harm’s way. But of The Duke’s 142 film performances, the perennial favorite has always been his cowboys, his pioneers and western lawmen who loomed as large as the Montana skies.
The bigger-than-life actor will now be rendered in a bigger format, under terms of a new license announced by Sideshow Collectibles. Sideshow Collectibles, the world’s premier manufacturer of licensed and proprietary collectible products, will expand its exclusive line of John Wayne figures to include a Premium Format Western John Wayne. Sideshow sculptor Mat Falls, working with clothing fabricator Greg Mowry, has created an astonishing likeness of America’s most famous cowboy.
The limited-edition ¼ scale figure will feature all of the scrupulous attention to detail that has distinguished Sideshow’s Premium Format lines. The Western Wayne will include an array of costume accoutrement, including his Winchester saddle-ring rifle, Colt Peacemaker and holster, boots, spurs, hat, and signature vest.
