Toynamia today announced that they have secured the the action figure license for Matt Groening's animated series Futurama, currently airing on Cartoon Network.

Toynami President George Sohn states that "We've had our eye on Futurama for a long time now, and with the series' current surge in popularity thanks to its rotation on Cartoon Network and its outstanding DVD sales, now seemed like the perfect time to bring Fry, Bender, Leela and company to the action-figure shelves."

To kick things off Toynami will be offering a 7" Futurama Universe-1 Bender figure. The gold-plated alternate-universe version of everyone's favorite robot as seen in the episode "The Farnsworth Parabox." This figure will be limited to 1000 pieces and sell for $15.

Look for several new assortment of figures for 2007 to be announced during next weeks Comic Con, and look for Futurama to air exclusively on Comedy Central beginning in 2007, and the network has ordered 13 new episodes of the series, to air in 2008.
