7" NECA Terminator 2 T-800 Classic Video Game Appearance Figure Review By UltimateToyCollector

NECA returns with their next Video Game Appearance figure: The Cyberdyne Systems T-800 based on its appearance in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day video game. Neca has done some truly amazing things with the Terminator license so it's only right that The Terminator gets the pixelated treatment and joins the ranks of Godzilla, Jason, Freddy, and Robocop.

First lets take a look at packaging. This VGA figure comes with windowbox style packaging that recreates the look of the original NES package from the classic game. This package also sports the aged and worn look that I absolutely love. Instead of video game screenshots on the back we have shots of the figure. If you look quick you'll never know the difference. The inside front flip is a screenshot of the T-800's arrival in the video game and the inside package behind the figure is also a classic background from the game complete with the T-800's powermeter.

Recently Neca unleashed the Ultimate T-800 figure which has quickly became one of my favorite Terminator figures. This figure is essentially the same figure but with a pixelated color scheme to replicate the same look of the T-800 in the cutscenes from the NES game. The mixture of red, grey, black and off white does a pretty good job of recreating the pixellated look of the game. The head sculpt of Arnold with the emotionless expression is spot on and looks absolutely amazing. We get both a regular head and a battle damaged head, which looks even better. The heads can be switched easily by simply popping them off the ball joint. The T-800 comes with the same exact shotgun that was with the Ultimate T-800 figure, but this time painted in the pixelated NES color scheme. As with the previous Ultimate figure, both the joints at the knees, elbows, and hips are hidden nicely by the sculpting and detailing. Unfortunately the jacket has a “vest” type of appearance when viewed from the side due to the gaps for the arms, but it’s not that bad.

The head is on a ball joint and has a good range of motion. The arms are on pin and socket joints that move up and down. The arms don’t move all the way up into a T-pose but there's still a good range of motion even with the separation at the shoulders for the jacket. Single hinged elbows that bend roughly 45°, and the wrists are on ball joints. The figure can rotate at the waist, but doesn’t have an ab crunch. The legs are on pin and socket joints. Decent range of motion but don't expect him to do any Van Damme splits. The legs bend at the knee at 45° and rotate at the knee. The figure also has a thigh cut and cut at the shin on the left leg only to allow for the leg to rotate at those points. The thigh and shin cuts line up nicely with no gaps. Finally, the figure has ball joints at the ankle allowing the foot to rotate and move up and down.

The T-800 is a must have for Terminator and Video Game fans alike. I'm glad to see this figure get the knock out Neca VGA treatment and look forward to seeing more in the future. The figure can be found online and at retail now.
