Toy Biz's Lord of the Rings Pellenor Fields Aragorn & Horse Brego Written by: Brandon Miller

Since the beginning, Toy Biz includes a couple Lord of the Rings Deluxe Horse and Rider/Beast sets in each series where characters from the films come with their horse or beast. In the regular Return of the King series it consists of Pellenor Fields Aragorn and Armored Brego, Legolas and Arad, Sharku and the Warg, the previously released The Two Towers Aragorn and Brego, and the Ringwraith and Steed. I will review the Pellenor Fields Aragorn and his horse Brego!

Accessories: Aragorn includes his sword Anduril, Elven hunting knife, and cloth clothing. Brego doesn't have anything except a galloping action with the press of the button on the side his left back leg. Aragorn's cloth cape isn't removable. Other cloth materials is his loincloths and his chainmail. The clothing is a nice touch. Aragorn's action feature is a slashing action.

Articulation: This Aragorn is somewhat similar like the single carded Super Poseable Pellenor Fields Aragorn because of the look, body, and movements. He has a double jointed neck, ball jointed shoulders though again, are restricted due to the sculpt and this time by the action feature, bicep twists, double jointed elbows, wrists, and waist. His legs and the upper part of them moves and like the other figures in this and previous series' the knees are bendable. My figure has no bendable joint or it isn't hooked in his right leg. Is this an odd flaw or is some of the others like this? No matter what the case maybe and even though he may look a tad awkwardly, this does not effect how he sits and rides on Brego. Speaking of the beautiful horse Brego, his neck moves side to side and up and down! He has three points of articulation in each of his front legs but due to the action feature it cannot be posed but the top of his back legs and ankles can move manually. His tail also has movement.

Durability: Both figures are pretty sturdy. Though the cloth in some places are on the thin side but everything seems to be okay!

Packaging: They come is a nice attractive ROTK box with a great picture of them from the motion picture on the front and with directions on the back. Some twisty ties are here but not much.

Paint: The paint on Aragorn's face and hands are different than the single version but his armor looks the same. His ring looks much better in this version and his sword is painted differently as it is silver compared to the blackish colored weapon that came with Super Poseable Pellenor Fields Aragorn. Brego's armor and saddle looks realistic! The white on his back legs, brown and black areas on the front of his body, and the Gondor war horse cloak is really neat! Everything that is painted on these figures looks nicely applied!

Sculpting: The head sculpt on Aragorn is similar like the regular one but I feel this one in this set has a much better effect on the character in this style. The hair and braids have better detail this time around. His armor and weapons are nearly identical like the single one but there is a difference in Aragorn's Elven knife and that is that is longer and thinner but still has sculpted scroll work on the weapon. Brego's sculpt is tremendous and resembles TTT figure but is different. Its remarkable how he looks like a real horse. His eyes, the hoofs, muscle tone, and skin looks life like and what this means is that Toy Biz sure knows how to sculpt!

Overall: If you are a LOTR collector this is a welcomed addition to your collection! If you already have the Super Poseable Pellenor Fields Aragorn and/or TTT version of Aragorn and Brego and you like these characters and alternate looks then pick this set up! The clothing makes it look really fancy! In My opinion this set is a dandy and even though they are the same characters but with different looks I think these are great because if you have a big collection and display them you can switch these around and they look awesome plus when it comes to a Pellenor Fields Aragorn I really think the included figure in this very set looks more menacing! This set is worth your buck!

Look for this great set at Big Bad Toy Store.
