Round 2 Launches MPC Rocket Line - KISS & Star Trek

by Jay Cochran
March 15, 2012
Round 2 is excited to announce their entry into the flying rocket model kit market with the launch of the MPC licensed rocket line. MPC originally produced rockets in the 1960s, and they are ready for liftoff again!

The first wave of product will include Star Trek and KISS licensed rockets and will be available in September 2012. Following that release will be MPC branded rockets in January 2013.

“MPC rockets are a great fit for the market as there are currently no other licensed rockets,” said Round 2 Owner Tom Lowe. “These rockets are poised to make a strong statement at retail.” They are packaged in exceptional full-color peggable boxes (no bags)! This makes them easy for retailers to display and organize.

The first three rockets to be released will feature full-color KISS graphics, themed around three classic KISS albums. They will include color-molded plastic parts and the paper body tubes are pre-decorated with images from the iconic album covers. Two of the kits also contain self-stick fin decals. Another fantastic feature is that when the parachute deploys it does so with huge graphics pulled from the album covers. The engines, engine igniters, recovery wadding, launch pad and launch control units are sold separately.

Along with the KISS release will be three Star Trek vessel themed rockets: the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, and the U.S.S. Reliant NCC-1864. All three rocket kits use graphic elements from specific Star Trek ships to create very stylized, high impact theme rockets. These rockets’ parachutes are also covered in color graphics, to make an impact as the rocket descends. All three kits include self-stick fin decals and ship graphics on the parachutes. The engines, engine igniters, recovery wadding, launch pad and launch control units are sold separately.
The kits are ready to build in less than an hour, and are 13” to 20” tall. They look great going up and coming down, because each rocket is wrapped in

licensed graphics, and then trails a 12” or 18” parachute featuring 2-color licensed artwork. All of the MPC rockets make use of existing Estes® and QuestTM engines already available. These rockets are for ages 10 and up and require adult supervision.
Look for these rockets at your local hobby shop starting in September!
