Ben Affleck Confirms Film Shooting For 'The Batman' To Begin Spring 2017

Rumors have been going around that the shooting schedule for the solo-Batman movie won't begin as scheduled as planned but Ben Affleck has confirmed to Variety that he expects filming to begin shooting in the spring of 2017.

“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together,” he said. “We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”

Affleck will be donning the cape and cowl again for this Batman movie, technically called 'The Batman.' He previously wore the costume for 'Batman V. Superman' and the upcoming 'Justice League.'

Before this movie, there has been a string of Batman movies and Affleck had nothing but praise for the directors and actors who have put their own imprint on Batman.

“I respect all of those [Batman] movies,” he said. “Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me.”

The project will be directed, produced and co-written by Affleck with DC Entertainment President and CCO Geoff Johns producing and co-writing. Currently known about the project is the Batman will face off against Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke. Jeremy Irons as Alfred and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon will co-star in the project.

No official release date has been set for the film.
