New Line & DC Developing 'Black Adam' Into His Own Movie With Dwayne Johnson

January 19, 2017

New Line and DC Entertainment are developing the movie Black Adam, with Dwayne Johnson attached to star as Shazam’s arch-nemesis. This move comes after the high level meeting with Johnson and DC Films co-head and comics author Geoff Johns, after which Johnson took to social media to promise “hope, optimism & fun.”

This meeting also showed how much Johnson has grown as a one of the biggest male actors and makes no sense for Johnson to just be a villain in the Shazam! movie as a supporting character in an expensive tentpole. Thus a decision was made to spin Black Adam into his own film. The movie would involve Black Adam as being an anti-hero, but as a villain is still fighting against enemies who sought to enslave his people.

No writers or director have been picked for this developing project.
