Custom 3D Printed Action Figures with Stop Motion Animation By Hauke

This week's TNI Cool Custom is of a some cool 3D printed action figures by Hauke. Here is how he describes the making of them:

This is my second stop motion animation using my 3D printed action figures. Ever since I started using acetone to smooth my figures I wanted to make a new one to show the nicer looking figures. I also bought new camera equipment that is less shaky allowing me to keep post processing of the pictures taken to a minimum. I did use Blu Tack on the feet to stabilize the figures and armatures for the flights, jumps and falls but other then that all you see here can actually be performed just with the joints of the figures.

Modeling Software: MODO

3D Printer: Stratasys Mojo

Figures were assembled and painted by hand.

Check out the images of his work below in our GALLERY as well as this cool stop-motion video.

I still can't get over the very idea of making custom figures using 3D printing. It's just truly amazing to see someone craft their designs and have the necessary parts churned out right from the start. I'll admit I do love the pulpy look of the figures, especially the robot designs which really stand out for me.

As for the stop-motion, brilliant job! Seeing your figures in action really do show off how effective the 3D molds turned out and is it just me or did that robot tank-thing just split up into two completely separate figures!? Seriously, the photos don't do these figures justice.

Thanks for the kind words about my work. And yes the robot does indeed split apart into two different figures.

Love these... I really like the look of the Orange and yellow guys. Not taking anything away from the others, but I really lIke those. The mech are awesome too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Those are my among my favorites as well. I always wanted to make charaters that look just really old school heroic. I think I succeded with them.

I didn't even notice the video before, sorry... looks awesome and like a ton of work. Came out flawless. Did you see the Star Wars stop motion contest they're having? You should look into it.

Thank you! That was quite fun. It may take a little while before I make another one but I really want to continue with this.

Edit... ooops, sorry forgot you weren't US based.

Don't worry. I am not sure I would have had time to work on something like that anyway. But thanks for thinking of me.

Here are some more figures from that series I have been working on lately. I hope to use some of them in further animations down the line.
