Tranformers Classic Megatron By Jin Saotome

Transformers: Jay Cochran - 2006.11.26
This week's TNI Cool Custom Of The Week was done by Jin Saotome, who has created a custom Transformers Classic Megatron.

Here is how Jin describes the making of this figure:

"Megatron from the Transformers Classics series was a cool design, he was just painted like a Nerf Gun and stole Gene Simmon's eyebrows. Well a quick repainting later and now he's much closer to his G1 color scheme! I also found out you can take off the 'shellformer' part. Turn your Megatron around and check out the trigger assembly that attaches to his buttocks. There's a little metal peg that you need to tap out and poof, the gun wings come off. You can simply sit the trigger back onto his rear (after removing the pin completly) each time you want to turn him back into the gun, since the sides just snap around him.

I broke the scope apart, which was a daunting task at first, and installed a light-up unit inside where you press down on the top scope dial to activate it. There's a magnifier at the front I added that really produces a great round 'targeter' effect too. Later I took apart his head and removed the green light-pipe eyes (see last pic), mixing up some clear epoxy with red dye and refilled em. Now Megatron is ready to take on those Autobots in style!"
