I had a dream about this. They annouced at the con that the show was going to start coming back on CN from where it left off, and they were going to continue the toy line from where it left off too. Then I woke up.

Now I can just hope that whatever they say at the con will end up being very good news...

That would be the coolest news from Mattel, but I am afraid that they are going to scrap the '02 line and start anew with designs like the one from the SDCC last year. I can see myself buying the bad guys from that line to put up against my '02 He-Man and the Masters. If they do decide to create a more advanced version of the 02 line with more joints, I am so going to be broke. I guess I don't need two kidneys.

I'm am really finding myself gettign excited about this. Just like I did back in 2002 when the relaunch happened then. I am stoked to find out what will be unveiled in NY.

MOTU > Everything!

I'm with Alexx.

The 2002 stuff was pretty much perfect in my eyes. There was nothing wrong with the figures themselves; Mattel's horrible handling of the line ruined it. I'd love to see the line picked up where it left off. They could rerelease the figures exactly as they were then or slightly alter paint schemes if people complained about rereleases hurting the value of their 2002 originals.

I loved the original He-man stuff as a kid, but I don't care to see it updated like that prototype we saw (though again, that's probably better than nothing, unless Mattel's just going to screw it all up again after a year or so).

Boy, waiting on this info is gona be hard. There are alot of options for a new toy line. Seems the most obvious one is for the movie that is supposed to come out, but then, there's the classic style figure we've seen as well (which, by the way, is something that the 4H sculpted).

Personally, I just want to see the He-Man line do SOMETHING. I suppose I've come to terms with the 2002 line blowing around like a popped balloon and flopping to the ground, so I don't mind buying into another line if they can do it right. They've really impressed me with the distribution of the DCUC line so far, and I think Mattel has finally gained some of my respect back. I don't even know what I'd really want next, since I know they won't just start where they left off with the new stuff. If they do a new movie line, then I hope they throw in a few classic styled ones like that He-Man figure, but I don't think I'd want a whole line of the classic style.

I guess I sorta forgive Mattel, but perhaps they're still walking on eggshells (when it comes to MOTU anyway). I don't know of a MOTU fan that wouldn't just want the 2002 sculpts back again. They really created a monster there, even if it didn't catch on with the kids. It was well done, but poorly handled. After it was all over they seemed to keep people on with the staticons, though I don't know why. Heck, the staticons confused me to no end: "You can continue to produce figures, but god help you if they move!" What was thier reasoning behind that? Eh. I never bought any staticons; I'm not interested in statues. I suppose people like me might have hurt interest, in thier eyes, since thier judgement was so strange as it was. They don't seem to understand how simple and fun a toy can be. I thought the figures were perfect, I don't even want any added articulation.

So what am I expecting from this? Hard to say. Like I said, the 2002 line's death is long gone and I don't care so much any more. It would be a dream to see it back, but unless Mattel has had a major staff change then it's dead. The classic style is sweet, but nothing that I'm gona go nuts for. Can they bring this back after giving us a taste of something good, then souring it so badly?

I was just saying that most of the GI Joe stuff up until the.......nevermind.

25th line = 2002 MOTU line........in overall coolness for me. If there was a coolometer they would be on the same level.

Its like Mattel skipped all the growing pains to get to total badassness with a re-launch.

Thats what I meant........I'm fearing they could be going backwards now.

They better fit in with what I have because I REFUSE to start over.

I totally agree with you.......I'm not in unless its somewhat close to the original re-boot from 2002......I'm not buying and hunting for a whole new line again.

As much as I would like to agree with you look at the GI Joe property. 25th stuff doesn't fit in with ARAH much less the JvC, Spytroops, VvV, and DTC which got the reboot in 2002 which is the same time the He-Man reboot. The 25th is smoking' hot because it is very similar to the original releases (which the He-Man proto they showed seems to be going the same route.) While a lot of people don't want to start over properties such as GI Joe and Transformers show that they can reboot a look not too far apart and people WILL buy it all over again.

I don't like it, but its either take it or leave it.

I think they need to wait another two or three years before starting a new line.

The 80splosion is going big now. You have a rocking 25 GI Joe line, Star Wars is still booming, Transformers is still huge, not to mention Indy is about to hit the big screen and toy aisles again. And you also have the NECA TMNT toys which bring back their original roots from the comic in the 80s. He-Man will still run on nostalgia and no time like the present.

Like I said above - I don't have high hopes and I have mixed emotions. He-Man was one of my most beloved properties in the 80s and I greatly enjoyed its return in early 2000... until its quick demise. I'm just going to sit back and watch and try not get get angry or my hopes up (as angry or crushed as a grown man can truly be about a toy line.)

GI Joe is not MOTU..........for me as a collector......I'm first and foremost a Joe collector so I'm going to be a little biased in my reply but I just still feel really burned by Mattel and the way they handled the MOTU line in 2002.

I mean my friends and I took a 16 hour road trip to WW Chicago in 2003 to get a Keldor and not ONE of us got one in the lottery....(there was 4 of us). Then I had them tell me that I could only get a ticket for either a Keldor or the Batman that they were offering.....I had to pick which figure I wanted to have a chance at........it was one of the worst collecting experiences of my life. I do pretty much have every figure from the 2002 re-launch line though. Except Keldor.......I have no faith in Mattel anymore as a action figure toy company.......yeah, their DC stuff is cool again but how long did it take them to get that right?? (How hard is it to sell Batman and Superman toys.......seriously???) I didn't even bother getting all the Stactions........I just got fed up....

I want the rest of my 2002 line.........the line that blew everything out of the water. Sculpt wise.....it wasn't perfect but I really liked it.

Hasbro is a great company when it comes to fans of GI Joe for the most part.......you can't compare Mattel to Hasbro. GI Joe has been handled a MILLION times better than MOTU ever was.

The style of that figure that was on display didn't really do much for me.......I liked the 4 Horseman style stuff better.

RAH is still the best GI Joe stuff out there for many.......but when you look back at original MOTU stuff its kinda lame IMO.

I agree with most of your points and understand what you're saying. My only beef is your last line. It's a little too biased for me.

All the toys from back in the day were disproportioned or undetailed or goofy-looking if you objectively look at them now. The relaunch of MOTU definitely looked cooler (relatively speaking) than VvV or Joe vs. Cobra, but that doesn't make the 1980s RAH stuff less lame.

It's all lame and cool as hell at the same time.
