The Dark Knight Movie Masters Batman

Package Description
Experience the denizens of Gotham City in all their heroic or hideous glory with Movie Masters figures. These highly detailed figures give you an up-close-and-personal look at the freakish make-up of the Joker and his Gotham City Thug and Batman’s suit, all from The Dark Knight movie.

Appearance
Batman has a new, highly detailed sculpt that is all I was hoping for. All the different armor pieces and even different textures of materials are sculpted in. This is probably the most realistic looking Batman in my collection. As far as I can tell the figure is movie accurate. The proportions are realistic, and he’s not overly muscled like a lot of superhero figures. The armor hides most of the joints very well along with the dark black colors. The paint application for the most part is very good. Most of the body is a dark black, but there are also some lighter black colors on some pieces of armor that are more visible when the figure is in hand. The only problems with paint were on the belt, where some of the black got onto the gold colored belt.

Stylistically, he does not go well with DCUC figures which have a more classic comic book feel. He is also a little shorter than the generic DCUC body, and so stands out. He is just about the right size to go with Marvel Legends figures though, so he may fit in pretty well with a Marvel movie figure 6” collection. The style and size of the Movie Masters figures though tend to set them apart from established DC collections.

Articulation

Batman has articulation that is standard for DCUC figures. Batman has pin jointed elbows, knees and ankles. He has the DCUC style hip and swivel wrists. There is an ab crunch, but it hardly moves at all. The head doesn’t really look up. The range of motion is what you would expect from a DCUC figure except for the limited range of motion in the head and abs. The shoulder pads also keep the arms from going up past a certain point.

Poseability
Batman’s got a very nice sense of balance. The cape also helps him stand up in certain poses. Batman looks really nice on the shelf, but can’t do some more agile poses like crouching. The figure captures the look and feel of Batman perfectly though, so it’s unfortunate there’s a noticeable size difference with DCUC figures. In an action pose the size difference can be made to look negligible, so if you want Batman to fight Two Face or something it can probably be done. Overall he’ll probably look best by himself or with Movie Masters figures.

Final Judgment: 7

The look and feel of this figure is superb, and on par with just about any Marvel or DC figure. It is unfortunate that he couldn’t be a little more agile, but the superior sculpt is worth it. The only real drawback to this figure is the size difference with DCUC figures. For whatever reason Mattel made these figures slightly shorter, but the style wouldn’t go well with those figures anyway. Overall this is an excellent figure for anyone interested in DC or Batman.

I really like the Batman. However I do wish he came with a cloth cape. I just think he could have more dynamic poses by not having a molded static cape. What I did with mine to give it a little something extra was that I put a coat of gloss clear over the Bat-symbol, now it really stands out and gives the figure a awesome look.

lets see it!

Indeed, let's see it!

ok just got back from walmart, and saw all the MM TDK figs (except the chase), if i should have to chose one which one should i get?, which is the rarest of the bunch(besides chase)?, which one is just the overall coolest?, and does anyone know the line up for the next series?

they have some sdcc variants. a lighter purple joker, a black suit goon, and a black and grey bats. its rumored that the next wave will include: batman begins bats(may be an unmasked chase or the bat monster face), scarecrow, and dukard. i want them for collection purpose, but im not really excited about them. theyre a nice way to round out the bat-movie series.
