DCUC Series 7 The Flash

Package Description
As Barry Allen went about his business in the police crime lab, an electrical storm broke over Central City. Soon the lab exploded with a blinding bolt of lightning, bathing Barry in the supercharged fluids. This random combination of chemicals turned Barry into The Fastest Man Alive! As The Flash, Allen vowed to use these powers to help humanity and guard central city with high-velocity vigilance!

Appearance 9/10
The Flash is near perfect as he finally debuts in DC Universe Classics. Although almost all of the figure is re-used, the improved quality control still shows on this figure. Flash is molded in red, but its not a dull red like I was expecting after buying wave 3 Robin. And unlike figures like Green Lantern, the red on all of the different pieces matches exactly, so there are no mismatched colors. The yellow around the waists and wrists, however, should have been given another coat so it wouldn’t be duller than the yellow in all the other areas. However all of the lines on the figure, including the chest logo, are crisp and the logo is straight. In addition there is a black wash on the body for texture, which is essential for this costume to not have a hard plastic look.

The proportions are good, and stylistically he fits in with all the DCUC figures. Mattel needs to start being consistent with face paint though. The only problem I have when I stand Flash next to Green Lantern is that GL’s face is molded in flesh color, while Flash’s face is painted. Overall though Flash made an excellent transition to plastic. The red could have been a little brighter to match the comic art, but stylistically the red chosen may have been the right choice.

Articulation 9/10
The articulation points are standard for this line. The head can look up some but not a lot The torso has its full range of motion. There’s nothing really special about the articulation of this figure.

Poseability 9/10
The costume lends itself well to action poses. The only problem is balance. While it’s relatively easy to balance him on the included stand when he has both feet on the ground, it is extremely hard to balance him on one foot in a pose that resemble running. He’s still got some good poses, and looks fantastic with other members of the Justice League. He looks a little differently from Kid Flash though. Kid Flash has a hard plastic look because of the yellow, so there is a little bit of clash between the two. Overall though Flash is a great figure for posing.

Final Judgment: 27/30
Flash is as good as I could have hoped. In addition to the figure being well executed, the style fits the figure’s comic appearance very well. Mattel really did The Flash justice with this figure, and he’s a must have for anyone wanting to form the Justice League.

Great review Tom E

I love the figure

while most of the DCUC use the same mold and body type, this really fits the Flash as he is supposed to be fit without being overly muscular

the

face is also on point and makes all the difference in the world to me (comparing it to the various DC Direct versions)

Mattel did a great job here keeping it simple.
