This week's TNI Cool Custom is of an unpainted sculpted figure of Calhoun Burns from M.A.S.K. by Creativebeast. The sculpt is done in the style of Hasbro's G.I.Joe 25th Anniversary line.

Here is Creativebeast describes the making of this figure:

"This is my first post here- I just wanted to share with you a sculpt I completed recently in the new GI Joe 3 3/4" tradition. I loved MASK as a kid and I was really happy to get an updated Matt Trakker figure last year. This is an update of Calhoun Burns- pilot of the Raven."

What do you sculpt with? Is that clay, or some kind of resin?

How do you do all of that? Do you have to sculpt each body part separately and attach them when they completely dry? If so, how do you attach them, because some of the joints in an action figure are attached inside the body part, so that would seemingly be sort of difficult.

Hi all,

This is my first post here- I just wanted to share with you a sculpt I completed recently in the new GI Joe 3 3/4" tradition. I loved MASK as a kid and I was really happy to get an updated Matt Trakker figure last year. This is an update of Calhoun Burns- pilot of the Raven.

Any comments or questions are welcome.

You can view the entire gallery here.

Congrats man! you are a pro!

One main question only, did you sculpted the GIJOE 25th Aniv. Specialist MATT TRAKKER for HASBRO?

I'm sure you were, 'cause i spotted yor website and your work has been used by HASBRO (the NEW Patrol DEWBACK?), please could you share some unofficial light about possible upcoming figures from M.A.S.K.? Hope your "custom" is soon made available in any future GIJOE assortment, there are A LOT of M.A.S.K. fandom out there.

By the way, The GULLIVER mask lacks the back piece that drops behinds Calhouns' head. have you noticed?

How about some clear colored plastic "energy balls" incorpored to the mask design, like the fireblast or laser deflect that was used in the SAGA STARWARS figures fromm episode II?.

Congrats man, you are indeed very talented and you have gained the recognition you deserve.

And one last suggestion. Please...develop more figures like this one, OK? ##1#

raven was my favorite too, when i was a kid. dont you guys think that they could bring back mask? i mean, since i saw matt in the gijoe section, i was all "why the hell not?" it was a great line.

I would buy it if it they redo it in the GI Joe sized figures. And get creativebeast to sculpt them!

it is so cool!

indeed I also want to do something similar to your work but in scale of 6"

for some Marvel or Dc character, I want to do it with epoxi and after that

cast it in resin, so far already begin to making some heads for my custom

any recommendation is welcome

congratulations by your exceptional work

If you made casts available I'd certainly be interested in purchasing one. Keep that in mind.

I too love MASK - I made a MASK custom even, though certainly not as good as yours.
