This week's TNI Cool Custom is of a Ghostbusters The Video Game Ray Stanz Meson Collider Version figure. This custom figure was done by Finney
. Here is how Finney describes the making of this figure:
"I call this Ghostbusters The Video Game Ray Stanz Meson Collider Version.
This project started when I realized that Matty's official GBTVG Rookie figure (one of four 2012 figures now that the line has been diminished) was arriving without any pack mods. I was not suprised, but I was disappointed. Not only did I decide that I was going to pass on this new figure for it's lack of artistic ambition, I was also going to 'stick it to the man' by making my own GBTVG figure using parts cannibalized from mostly other Mattel figures.
The custom took a total probably 8 hours or more in total time. Standard Matty GB Belt swap/gloved hand swap/head swap. It uses some parts from DCU BANE, lots of parts from DCU Desaad(s), and also parts from a Slime Blower Ray Stantz minimate. The wings on the PKE are custom sliced out of a Desaad torture device handle. The 'lights' on the PKE's face are hand punched and painted as well as the lights on the wings. The wimpy Matty ecto goggles have been beefed up. I hollowed out a holster from a GB radio belt accessory and made it removable.
The pack has been detailed and painted, some things have been changed so that the gun is still 'mountable' on the pack. I wasn't super strict as far as what was added, but I think I was true enough to the look of the game. I really wanted to do the Meson Collider mod since it was my favorite in-game weapon.
I'm really happy with how it turned out considering this was kind of made up as I went along and this is my first time doing this level of custom work. I knew the look that I wanted to recreate and it was successful to my liking. I've wanted this figure for some time and it's great to finally have it. I hope you guys dig it."
