DC Collectibles 6" New 52 Flash Vs. Vibe Figure 2-Pack Review

DC Collectibles releases the first of their 6” New 52 figure 2-packs with the Flash/Vibe set which features a member of the Justice League and Justice League America. This is the third time DC Collectibles has released a New 52 version of Flash but the first and currently only way to get a Vibe figure. Is the set worth adding to your collection? Read on to find out.

Check out hi-res images for this figure in our GALLERY below.

Packaging - The packaging for the 2-pack is pretty much the same design as seen with the single packaged figures, only twice as big. The figures come in a white window box with red highlights on the right side to match the characters. The figure names are on the bottom right corner. Even though both characters in this set are considered heroes, it says The Flash vs. Vibe because the two face off in the current DC Comic Trinity War storyline.

The left side of the box shows a picture of the figures and the name of the sculptor, Jack Mathews. The left side also has some shadow art of the characters and says Justice League next to Flash and Justice League of America next to Vibe.

Thumb images of the figures with a brief bio for the characters are shown on the back along with thumb images for the next two pack to be released. The other two pack will feature Katana and Wonder Woman. Under that are full images of the Flash and Vibe figures.

Sculpt - The Sculpt for the Flash is close to identical to the ones previously released. It has a little different facial expression and the lightening bolts on its heads are shaped a little differently.

Vibe has some nice detailing. The costume is completely sculpted on including the vest which is looks layered over the rest of the costume. There is also some nice texturing on the vest. The right hand is sculpted to hold something while the left hand is sculpted in a pose suggesting he is about to shoot one of his shock waves. It’s too bad the figure did not include any kind of add-on accessory to mimic his powers.

The head features a sculpted on mask over the figure’s eyes and the likeness of the rest of the face is very true to the character as he is depicted in the comics.

Paint - The paint job is very solid on both figures. Again Flash is close to identical to the previously released figures.

Vibe uses a solid black throughout most the costume with some red trim up his legs and chest area. The vest uses a light gray with red trim and gold trim. There is a red hoodie on his back. His arm guards have a metallic silver with the same red trim as the rest of the figure. The figure has a mask with red trim and gold metallic paint that covers the eyes.

There are no significant paint errors on either figure.

Articulation - Both figures have basic articulation like with most of the DC Collectible figures. Flash is identical to the previous two figures. Vibe’s head is on a ball-joint and has decent up and down movement. He has ball-jointed shoulders, bicep swivels, single elbows, cut hips, and single knees. With no ab or ankle joints, he is somewhat limited in poses beyond basic standing. It’s a little disappointing because even though one hand is sculpted in a way that depicts him using his powers, you can’t really get him in any good poses that would simulate him using his shock waves.

Accessories - Neither figure in this set comes with any accessories.

Quality Control Issues - No quality control issues that I have come across.

Overall - I suppose if you haven’t already gotten a New 52 Flash figure, this set is a pretty good deal. I find it hard to believe that a collector invested in a fairly unknown character like Vibe has not already picked up a Flash figure. If you’re a team-builder sucker like me, then passing on a chance to complete your Justice League of America team with Vibe might be a hard decision for you to make but it might be worth waiting to see if DC Collectibles re-releases him in either a single package or some kind of box set where you don’t have to buy a figure you basically already have. In other words, I am not to keen on this idea of 2-packs where you have to buy figures you likely already own and hope in the future DC Collectibles either sticks with single packaged figures or does 2-packs with two new figures like Vibe and Katana.
