UPDATE: For those wondering if Diamond Select Toys will be continuing their line of Star Trek based products, the answer is yes. We reached out to Zach Oat at DST, and he tells us not only will they continue to make Star Trek products, but they will also be expanding to new areas of the Trek universe as well.

McFarlane Toys today announced they have signed a toy license deal with CBS Consumer Products to make products based on both the new Star Trek: Discovery TV series as well as classic Trek.

The line will start off with two 7" Color Tops figures of James T. Kirk from The Original Series and Jean-Luc Picard from The Next Generation. Characters from Star Trek: Discovery TV series and other adaptations will follow afterwards.

It is unclear if this will have any baring on the Star Trek products currently being produced by Diamond Select Toys. We have reached out to the folks at DST's for comment, and once we hear back, we will be sure to update this story.
