From Wizkids:

Mr. Terrific
Unit Num: 016 Point Value: 58 Team: JSA
Unit Num: 017 Point Value: 72 Team: JSA
Unit Num: 018 Point Value: 80 Team: JSA

Designer Note
Mr. Terrific is a competent, capable hero, so I wanted him to be able to stand on his own, but he’s also a consummate team player, so I wanted him to work well in that regard too. This resulted in a new JSA member (Hooray! More JSA!) with a combination of powers that really makes him stand out.

One of the things that Terrific does in the comics is to collect information and out-think his opponents, hence his Outwit and Probability Control. Probability Control was an odd choice (and I heard about it from the playtesters!) but it allows a character like Terrific to have an effect in the game that feels like what he does in the comics. No, he doesn’t influence luck or rewind time to use his Probability Control; instead he gives his teammates the information they need to be as effective as possible.

His other powers make him an excellent fighter with the ability to inconvenience even the big dogs using Incapacitate. Willpower keeps him active and mobile when others might be threatened with pushing, and his Stealth allows him to move up and Outwit while staying out of harms way.

Overall I’m very, very happy with this character, his dial, and the sculpture (thanks, Carter!). I hope all of you are, too.

Playtip
Heralding the return of the JSA in Legacy, and sporting a colorful dial and great stats, Mr. Terrific may be one of the most useful support pieces ever devised. He’s in the low-to-mid point range, so he’s flexible enough for any team, but his relatively high Defense makes him a good choice for a JSA theme-team as well.

He begins the dial with Incapacitate, Willpower, and Outwit on all three versions. A couple of clicks later, he loses the Incapacitate and Outwit and gets Stealth and that ever-useful ability, Probability Control. A couple more clicks later and he changes back to Outwit, and his Experienced and Veteran versions get a nice helping of Mastermind to go with it, keeping him in the game longer – and his point cost means that there should be a couple of lower-cost characters around to absorb some incoming damage. The Veteran version probably has the sweetest spot, with Stealth, Incapacitate, Willpower, and Probability Control on one great click, combined with the high damage.

His 6 Range and 2 targets mean he’s great for Incapacitating opposing pieces without himself taking damage. But Mr. Terrific really is a great multi-purpose piece, adding a kind of tactical value that will make or break a tournament game. Expect to see him in the backfield quite a bit, and he’ll certainly be a good draw in a Battle Royale event.
