With a proven track record of transforming popular kids’ television series into top-selling products, Bandai America Incorporated showcased its top-rated toy line for Teen Titans today at the 2006 American International Toy Fair in New York City. The expanded lineup for the Spring features dynamic new packaging and products sure to appeal to ardent young fans and faithful adult collectors alike. This expansion comes straight on the heels of yet another strong season for the Warner Bros. Animation television series, which airs on Cartoon Network multiple times each week to tremendous ratings among boys 2-11.
Based on the popular DC Comics characters, the Teen Titans property made its triumphant debut in 2004. The series was an immediate hit with kids who loved the unique combination of American and Japanese-influenced animation, and achieved consistently solid ratings while establishing a loyal fan base of all ages. Airing on two different networks, including Kids’ WB!, the series features comedic storylines and one-of-a-kind heroes and villains created ongoing demand for the toy line from Bandai America.
“One of the most unique things about the Teen Titans property is that it has a wide target demographic,” said Matt Golding, director of marketing for Bandai America. “Boys love the action that they see on the show, as well as the variety of action figures, while girls are drawn to the strong female characters that have been put into toy form. And adult collectors love the Japanese-inspired animation and humor that has been designed into our collectible toy line.”
As a leader in the boys’ action figure aisle, Bandai America has taken its previous success in the category and created a humorous and fun lineup for Teen Titans. The Spring 2006 collection features new sets of 1.5” miniatures, this time with a unique game component. The Comic Game Heroes are not only collectible with a variety of characters in static or exaggerated poses, they now offer a translucent character-shaped figure dice, and the custom comic page also doubles as a game mat. The new 5-6” Deluxe Feature Figures come with lots of accessories, as well as a stand for the characters to demonstrate their action feature. Other products include the
Teen Titans Bikes with a 5” figure, including Robin’s R-Cycle and Beast Boy’s Moped (from that unforgettable episode where he takes a job at a burger stand); Robin’s Bo-Staff role-play set, which features action sounds straight from the TV show; and the transforming Deluxe Battling Machine that can also be combined with the regular Battling Machines.
The key driver debuting in Spring 2006 is the first-ever LCD handheld game that doubles as a cool role-play toy in the shape of the Titans’ T-Communicator.
