We told you about this last week, and now NECA has released an offical press release on it:
NECA, Inc. has entered into a license agreement with Conan Properties International LLC via its parent company Paradox Entertainment, Inc., whereby NECA will be producing a line of collectible action figures, resin busts, resin statues and other consumer products using artwork from both the classic Universal film Conan the Barbarian and from the current Dark Horse comic series. NECA plans to have a full line of products available in 2008, some of which will feature the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger, the epitome of fantasy heroism, as he appeared in the 1982 film.
Robert E. Howard’s Conan character has become one of the most recognizable fantasy properties of all time, spawning two hit feature films, publishing, comic books, video games and more. John Milius’ 1982 film adaptation helped propel Arnold Schwarzenegger to film superstardom, redefined the fantasy epic, and was hailed as “a very nearly perfect visualization of the Conan legend, of Robert E. Howard's tale of a superman who lived beyond the mists of time” by film critic Roger Ebert. Conan the Barbarian, the tale of a boy, who was enslaved by a ruthless, supernatural despot, but who later became an unstoppable warrior king, stands the test of time as a landmark achievement in epic filmmaking.
There is also new Conan movies in the works. For more on that head over to
