They have a history of obtaining likeness rights from people notorious for not giving them. The right amount of cash will take care of that.
They have rights to Sesame Street and The Muppets. Hopefully The Muppets line will be a success and we get a line on par with the Palisades collection. Top it all off with Boss Fights Fraggle Rock line and Plastic Meatballs trio of Emmett Otters Jug Band Christmas figures (Kermit was in that HBO special including a full body shot of him pedaling a bicycle).
Felt puppets galore
Great chance to finally get Super Grover after the Pallisades SG of 2005! Wish it had the trenchcoat and phone booth lot that set had, but it's a step in the right direction at least and the S & G letters are nice additions to the alphabet set.
Look, up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane! Oh, its just Super Grover. NECA is welcoming everyone's favorite blue-furred hero to its Ultimate Sesame Street line. Standing in 7-inch scale, this action figure captures the lovable charm and comedic confidence of Super Grover in all his heroic glory. Super Grover is ready to take flight (or at least try) in his iconic superhero costume, which includes a fabric cape with real string. His arms even have bendy wire to recreate those authentic hero poses! He includes extra interchangeable hands, a flight stand, and the letters S and G. Comes in collector-friendly window box packaging with opening front flap.Coming this spring!

We've seen the Muppet performers be more visible in performing in public like a couple of panels at D23 and I think that's great to help appreciate the magic of those performers, but I understand Frank's dedication to his vision of how it should be presented.
If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend both the excellent six-part series Defunctland did on Jim Henson https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjW1YK5jKqSAxXJxzgGHbmeOG8QFnoECAwQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fplaylist%3Flist%3DPLplWWKocAfTYIGzH8eQ0x0kEQgoV9CpYm&usg=AOvVaw0uXuXrDinvT5MXkTkzHfDG&opi=89978449
The Disney + documentary on him is good too and has access to his peers for interviews, but the Defunctland team's one really goes deep into the man's history without quite so much of the corporate gloss that the Disney machine unsurprisingly has.
But to brin it back on track, yeah, more Sesame Street Neca toys please!
Yeah, I respect Franks take on it, even though I personally prefer Jims. I enjoy watching the performer as much as I do watching the characters themselves. I love this clip of Rowlf (and Jim) explaining why his right arm doesnt work.https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTGO2HQEcH9/
I loved the Jim Henson: Idea Man documentary. I wasnt aware of the Defunctland series or the D23 panels, so thank you so much for the recommendations and the link! I look forward to watching them.
Ive also been meaning to watch I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story.

He knew no one pays attention to the man behind the muppet, and that youre naturally drawn to the character. I just watched a clip recently where he even encouraged Dick Cavett to take and try out Mahna Mahna (or was it Bip Bippadotta?). Somehow I like to think that the Hensons would allow the use of his likeness.

The imaginary action figures we were dreaming of were not necessarily made by NECA, and the imaginary versions including Kermit and Piggy most definitely featured imaginary The Muppets packaging instead of Sesame Street. ?

Yeah, no way Frank Oz would do it. He seems pretty arrogant sometimes, and refuses to appear with the muppets (or even do the voices) on camera, for fear of breaking the illusion.

I am endlessly fascinated by Jims style and humor. And of course Franks as well.

Ideally, you'd have that as a feature of all the regular figures - make them so they split at the waist and can then be 'plugged in' to the performer figure's hands. But that's me and pie-in-the-sky idea!
