McFarlane: Stocking Stuffer 3 Inch Program Under Way

by Outsiders
November 13, 2004

McFarlane Toys has begun a new program with the Target retail chain. The special Stocking Stuffer program -- featuring single-packed 3-inch-scale sports figures -- began nationwide on Nov. 1.

The 3-inch figures are single-pack versions of sports figures previously only available in 3-inch two-pack form. Each figure includes a base and comes with smaller-scale (4 1/2-by-7 inches) clamshell package.

Items currently at retail in Target in single-pack form are NBA 3-inch Series 1 and most of NFL 3-inch Series 1 and 2.

McFarlane Toys has also implemented a new vending machine program in partnership with one of our distributors, Sammy USA. These are an assortment of 3-inch-scale football figures single-packed in a pie-shaped resealable clamshell that measures 3 3/4-by-6 3/4 inches.

These figures are available now across the country at gaming and redemption counters -- Dave and Busters, Chuck E Cheese, GameWorks and Peter Piper, among others -- as well as Champs and various team shops.

If these programs are successful, it may spark a shift in the way McFarlane handles the 3-inch lines, moving from two-packs to single-packs in the future.
