McFarlane's 5" Super Powers line is kind of a hidden gem. Usually ignored by many because it's either not 6", or not in actual scale with the old Kenner Super Powers figures(They are typically a bit taller than the Kenner ones, since I think the Kenner ones were more around 4.5"-4.75"). This is especially true with the vehicles from this line, as I think the vehicles are really where it's at.
The Skull Ship is cool, though to be honest, I too would of expected it to be a bit of a bigger vehicle/smaller playset of sorts. But I have no problems with it, and still think it's neat, as I too assume it's done to help keep the price as low as possible(A bigger set would be a bit more expensive, and who knows if it would of pegged or not for a while). Honestly, it does seem like something Kenner could of released back in the day.
My only complaint about it, is that I do think this could of had a open and closing canopy at the top, to sort of help complete the look. I suppose the only advantage with it be an "Convertable" is that it allows any size Brainaic figure that can fit in at least(Like maybe up to 6" size), be able to ride it. If I do get it, I will use it with my Mattel JLU Brainaic figure.
I don't even collect this line, but kinda really dig that ship, Always liked that ship, it's robotic Skully and Squiddy all at the same time, that's a pretty cool combination of cool things.
I'd buy if on sale at some point.
Now if McFarlane could give us a 7" scale Super Powers Cyborg Brainiac......
Im torn on this one. I have been adding a few figures from this line to my og superpowers collection but Im not super thrilled with how this turned out.
Yes, ... this is very cool.!! Who would have ever thought we would get a Super Powers Skull Ship.!!??I'm really happy to get it. Sure, ... I thought it might be bigger...but maybe he's keeping the 'price-point' low ... for today's crowd.!!I'm thankful for this... and really thankful for the Detective Batman, the Black-suited Batman, the two Robins, ... Hal Jordan-Green Lantern & Sinestro.!! ...And the vehicles in the new SP line..!! (The other larger figures, ... I'm not sure.!! Although they are good figures in their own right, ... they don't scale well with my original SP line.!! )All in all, ... I'm glad Todd is getting this new line out for us.!!I'm hoping Blue Beetle is scaled 'right' for our Original SP figures... as is the 'first appearance' Brainiac.Any time he gives us a 'properly scaled' SP figure that scales 'right' with our Original Figures... I'm really happy.!!Awaiting The Bug.!! ...and, of course, Blue Beetle ... and F.A. Brainiac.!!Oh, boy.!!

Agreed, I had something mid sized playset in mind. At the very least a translucent canopy. Makes me wonder about the beetleship but its still cool. Very 80s.
McFarlane, make the unproduced Apokolips playset!!!! 1986 me is still waiting lol
eew very cheap looking
This line is the only thing Mcfarland has hooked me with. This is cool and im going to put my vintage super powers brainiac in it. Keep this kinda stuff coming please.
Shown below via camp_crystal_lake_collector are some nice in-hand images for the new DC Super Powers Brainiac's Skull Ship which has started hitting Walmart's in AZ.The cost is $19.97. Worry not, while no figures are included, based on overseas listings there will be a First Appearance Brainiac figure released in the line to go in the ship.
Looks awesome ! Cant wait for Blue Beetle and the Bug ship!
