I have to admit, the fact that so many of the "retro" repaints sold out quick surprised me. I still believe that both False Face & Louie the Lilac could be made with Batman '66 suit figures & then make a new head sculpt + new paint colors for the suits. Mad Hatter would need a new suit torso & head sculpt, but legs & arms could be used from previously made figures. Shame, Archer, & Minstrel would need more new parts, so those would be deal breakers.

The BTAS line could easily produce a BTAS Black Mask by using a BTAS BAF Bruce Wayne body with a repainted suit & just a new head sculpt with hat. A BTAS Joker in trench coat could be used to create the planned BTAS Hush figure by using the body for a repaint & change the color of the trench coat from grey to brown. Then add a new head sculpt. Todd, are you listening?

Even Malibu Superman with New Hat sold out. Wild.

I was a little surprised at that as well, but only a little. There was always going to be a contingent of people who would buy it for Mxy alone. Though I predict Toddy will put out at least one mainline Superman reusing it, probably an overpriced Collector's Edition of some sort.

Of course he did. The man's got lightning (in his pants).

Actually, it's kind of lousy he doesn't come with a simple lightning bolt or anything, but anyway. Still available on McFarlane's site, which it looks like I'm going to have to hold my nose and order from since I arrived at the party too late on this one.

Wonder Woman was gone fast too.

But, sure, keep pumping out Batman variants. As some on here say, those are the figures everyone wants . . . .

Every figure line does this. Mattel did it all the time with DCUC. Marvel Legends has bucks that have been used probably 200 times, so I don't see what the issue is.

I think the issue isn't the reuse of molds so much as it is the reissue of the exact same character offering just in a different color scheme. New and different characters using minimal new tooling (like a lot of Marvel Legends) are perfectly fine - it's the "here's the previously released Arkham City Batman in ice... and patina... and gold... and x-ray... and polka dots... and entirely unpainted" approach that Todd's taken since the 90's that still rankles and baffles since there's so few collectors that show any sort of interest in those offerings.

The recycling of old figures with new paint apps is becoming laughable with this line. Now they are going into clear, colored plastic using old molds. Are people really buying this stuff? McFarlane is going for the final cash grab on this line. Why couldn't he that thrown in a few new characters like the Mad Hatter or FalseFace from Batman '66? Louis the Lilac too? He could have used a lot of those old figures with modified extras & at least they'd be new characters....oh well.

Every figure line does this. Mattel did it all the time with DCUC. Marvel Legends has bucks that have been used probably 200 times, so I don't see what the issue is. Who cares if they used Riddler to make Clock King with the BTAS line? That's how it's done. There's no reason to tool up an all new figure if there's already a usable buck that will work with only a few new parts to complete the figure. We didn't get anymore 1966 because they may have been out of Batman variants. Every wave had to have a Batman and that's why we got all those different Batmans which was a good thing, since they've never been made before. FalseFace and Louie the Lilac would never be made as figures. The oddball villains we did get were the A listers of that series. Milton Burle isn't going to move inventory. I'd buy it because of the illness, but that might as well be named Peg warmer.Yes, a whole bunch of us still buy it. I have the entire line and will buy up all the rest and I'll also do the same with Mattel.

So Todd is now dismembering a second BTAS figure & making it a Build-A-Figure. First McFarlane took BTAS Riddler, broke the body apart & created a new Clock King head sculpt, plus new hands without gloves & one with a gold pocket watch, to create Clock King after the Riddler's body parts were repainted to match Temple Fugate's suit colors.

Now McFarlane is just breaking up the Renee Montoya BTAS figure & putting the various body parts in with Ventriloquist w/Scarface, Harvey Bullock, Talia al Ghul, & Robin repaint figures.

One wonders if McFarlane will decide to do the same with the final unproduced BTAS character The Penguin before year's end?

I really want the Scarface and Ventriloquist figures man. I have not been able to get previous versions because of pricing!???
