The Goonies: 7" Scale Series 1 Figure Images

Here is a look at Mezco's first series of 7" Goonies figures that were shown at the San Diego Comic Con.

Series 1 includes: Chunk, Data, Mikey, Mouth, and Sloth (7.5").

Data: Encumbered by an arsenal of bizarre invented gimmicks, Data models himself after James Bond. Over the course of the movie, Data surprises his fellow Goonies (and himself) by finding useful niches for his otherwise desultory inventions. During the end of the film, when the Goonies are reunited with their parents, Data’s father is shown to be similarly gimmick-laden.

Chunk: As his nickname would imply, Chunk is the portly member of the Goonies gang, frequently led astray by the whims of his appetite. However, Chunk proves his worth when, after being captured by the evil Fratelli family, he makes an ally of the powerhouse, Sloth; later Chunk and Sloth arrive at an opportune time to assist the Goonies against the rest of the Fratelli family.

Sloth: Despite Sloth’s appearance and monstrous strength, he’s the only benevolent member of the Fratelli family. When the family captures Chunk, they thrust him into the company of Sloth, and though Chunk is initially terrified, he manages to befriend Sloth. Later, Chunk and a swashbuckling Sloth assist the rest of the Goonies against the horrible Fratelli clan.

Mouth: The character of Mouth is set in place primarily to provide the required levels of sarcasm and family-friendly derision to the proceedings. In some ways he’s a less foul-mouthed counterpart to the character Teddy from Stand By Me. Mouth is varyingly enthused over the acquisition of One-Eyed Willie’s treasure.

Mikey: The asthmatic leader of the group, Mikey inspires his fellow Goonies to embark on the quest to find the fabled treasure of One-Eyed Willie. Mikey’s determination in this endeavor is reasonably unwavering, and his dogged belief in the legend of One-Eyed Willie is validated when Mikey finally leads the group to Willie’s treasure and the skeletonized remains of Willie himself.
