Munky King is pleased to present the Funny Club Show, a traveling exhibition of customized toys by over 140 US and international artists. As their canvas, each artist was given a blank Funny Club, a hyper-articulated 4 figure created by Taiwan toy designer b.b.birdy. His design studio is the first independent manufacturer of designer toys in Taiwan and has produced other notable lines such as the Jay figure, based on popular Taiwanese singer Jay Chou.
The diverse group of Funny Club artists include established local talent like Gary Baseman, Frank Kozik, Brendan Monroe, Luke Chueh, Thomas Han, Joe Ledbetter, miQ willmOtt, Slick, Dez Einswell, MAD, and Damon Soule to name a few. The challenge of working with such small dimensions and unique proportions yielded a diverse array of original work, from simple and innovative designs to elaborate constructions.
This is the last stop before the show moves on to Taiwan, so don’t miss the chance to see over 140 unique originals on display at Munky King. Creator b.b.birdy and fellow Funny Club designer Nakanari have come all the way from Taiwan to sign and customize Funny Club figures during our opening reception. Come enjoy music, complimentary drinks, and the fine company of many participating artists.
The Funny Club Show opens May 7th, from 7 to 11pm. Exhibit closes June 4th.
