The 2004 G.I.Joe Convention wrapped up this past weekend as a roaring success. Next years convention will be held in Minniapolis, Minnesota, so star making your plans now.
Everyone who attened the dinner on Sunday night was given an exclusive 2004 Collector Convention
Comic 3-pack. This 3-pack has an exclusive convention cover comic book.
Other highlights of the dinner was an appearance by
Cobra Commander played by Hasbro's own Darryl Depriest.
Others exciting announcement made from the convention this year is that Hasbro will be releasing a new patton design for their 3 3/4" figures. It's a new sculpting method being called "insert pin" molding which will enable the arms to be slimmer, smaller and even allow for more movement. This will really help with the look for the female figures. The upcoming Valor vs. Venom Torch figure will be the first figure to sport this new type of sculpting.
You can see a proto of Torch
here and a finished version
here.
Also announced was a new version of Snake-Eyes coming in 2005. Shown at the Hasbro Roundtable (No pictures were allowed), this figure has been described as having a look that will make you think it's 1985 again, yet having more articulation than any other G.I.Joe figure before it.
Thanks to Arashikage Storm, GGPike, Tazzman & Scotty97 for all the info and images from this past weekend. One thing is for sure, its seems like its going to be an exciting time for Joe fans in the days to come. For lots of images of the con, be sure to check our galleries
