Russell To Direct Witchblade Movie

Yancy Butler needn't waste her time sitting by the cordless - a "Witchblade" feature film is happening, but it won't feature the spunky brunette.

The Comics Continuum reports that Chuck Russell ["The Mask"] will direct the film - which isn't set up at any studio yet - which will be a totally new entity from the TNT series.

In the series, Yancy Butler starred as Sara Pezzini, a New York detective whose search for justice brings her into contact with an ancient, intelligent, living weapon so powerful it can battle the world's darkest forces.

The site reports that "Witchblade" is also turning toon - thanks to Japan.
