Fox Searchlight Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming Russian import, NIGHT WATCH! Based on a series of popular Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror books, this unique Russian film beat both LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING and SPIDER-MAN 2 at the Russian Box Office last year. Fox has reportedly spent quite a bit of money for this film, not only for distribution rights ($ 2 Million) in the U.S., but also for a new type of subtitles (supposedly imitating the appearance of comic book lettering) that will be premiered for the flick.

In NIGHT WATCH, The forces of good and evil have been battling a war for thousands of years. The Dark side is made up of creatures like Vampires, while the side of Light is lead by Wizards and such. But when both sides come to the realization that neither one can prevail over the other, a truce is agreed upon. Fast-forward 1,000 years to modern day Moscow where specially chosen individuals, from each side, form a group called the Night Watch. Patrolling under the dark of night, they soon discover a plot to break that truce and to plunge the world back into an all out war.

Hailed as a Genre Masterpiece, This is the first in a trilogy of films that Fox has purchased and will begin distributing here in the U.S. starting July 29th. You can see the trailer here, and check out the film’s official website right here!
