Todd McFarlane is cooking up some "Twisted Tales" for Fox.
The "Spawn" creator has partnered with AngryFilms to develop a half-hour anthology skein for the network. Fox TV Studios' alternative division, headed by Dave Madden, is producing in association with McFarlane and Angry Films ("The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen"). Trey Callaway ("I Still Know What You Did Last Summer") is exec producer-showrunner.
"Twisted" takes its title from a comicbook series to which McFarlane owns the rights. McFarlane, Terry Fitzgerald, Rick Benattar, Susan Montford and Don Murphy will exec produce.
Episodes will focus on tales of horror, fantasy or sci-fi. McFarlane will serve as a Rod Serling-like host, introducing each episode from a fake basement.
Murphy said focusing on just one story per episode will allow for more chills-per-minute.
"Other series went to the easier fit idea of multiple stories in an hour, and inevitably one of the stories was bad," he said. "Here it's one story, one episode, bang-- we gotcha."
Callaway's series credits include exec producing UPN's "Mercy Point." In addition to creating the original comicbook "Spawn," McFarlane worked on a feature and an animated HBO skein based on the franchise.
