The war between heaven and hell is heating up with the release of the hit 1997 series, Todd McFarlane's Spawn Season One, to be released on Universal Media Disc (UMD) for Sony's Playstation Portable.

Cutting-edge and visually stunning, the show is based on the smash comic book of the same name also created by Todd, who served as executive producer. It's available for purchase October 18 with a suggested retail price of $19.98.

Launched on HBO in 1997, Todd McFarlane's Spawn already had a built-in fan base of comic readers, and before long the critics were creating a buzz about the show. "This freakish cartoon character is set to take over the world," said Swing Magazine, while Rolling Stone called it "an excellent new HBO series." The Denver Post praised it as, "a masterfully illustrated trip." The Emmy-award winning series enjoyed a three-year run.
