I maybe wrong, but I seem to recall this set was 1st released a few years ago as a GameStop Exclusive. I think it's neat for those who want the 4 Turtles in a Window Box Packaging, especially for display. 1 thing to point out is that they don't come with the Weapons Rack like the Single Cards. It's just the 4 Turtles with their signature weapons.

If I ever decide to get this 1987 TMNT 4 Pack Set, and it's at a good sale or discount price, I'll customize them to be Mirage Inspired Turtles, something I've been thinking about since the recent reissues after I was done getting my 4 Regular Re-issue 1st Wave Turtles(2 from the 2012 Re-issue line, and 2 from the more recent Re-issues). Kind of like a What If Playmates had back then decided not to do the different colour masks and pads, and just kept them Red instead.

I got a Ralph from the recent re-issue, and a Loose Missing Belt from the original 1980's/early 1990's line. If I get this 4 pack, I will at least have 3 Red Mask and Pads Turtles. 1 I will leave as Ralph. The rest, I swap out the belts and accessories from the Leo and Don from this set, and put them on the other 2 Ralph figures, and make them Mirage Leo and Don. For Mike, since his mask is Orange, I think I might be able to carefully paint or use a Red Maker on his Orange Mask and Pads to turn him into looking like a Mirage inspired look, since Orange is usually created by combing Red and Yellow(I think I'll most likely use a Red Maker, since that's cheaper and I don't have to worry about the Red Paint Chipping, which is why I wouldn't paint Leo and Don's Mask and Pads red). And being a brighter colour, the Red should in theory be able to blend in with the Orange decently. Even if the shade of Red doesn't end up looking exactly like the others, thanks to his different skin tone from the others, I like to think of it as Mikey's way of still standing out when compare to his other brothers.

This way, I can have some Mirage Inspired Turtles done in the original Playmates style.I would keep the pads red, since I think the red pads would make them look more interesting and still add a splash of colour, instead of doing the pads in Brown or Black.

If I notice Wal-mart puts these ever at a good Sale or Discounted price, I may consider picking up 2, just to keep 1 in box. Though I will admit, I'm usually a person who only buys 1 to open, not buy 2 so that I can have 1 for open, and 1 for close. Though the Window Box look with at least the Basic Weapons does look neat to me, so that's why I would consider it.

I hope thought that since this year is the 40th Anniversary or even afterwards, that Playmates will continue to do some theme 5" Reissue 4 Pack sets like this, like a 4 Pack for each of the 4 Turtles in their respective series. Like 1990's Movie Turtles 4 Pack, Ninja Turtles III Samurai Movie Turtles 4 Pack, The Next Mutation 4 Pack(Or make it a 5 if they want to include Venus), 4Kids/2K3 Turtles 4 Pack, Fast Forward 4 Pack, 2007 TMNT 6" Movie 4 Pack, 1st Nick/2012 Series 4 Pack, 4 Packs from both Michael Bay Produced Movies, Their own Mirage Turtles in a 4 Pack, Rise Of The TMNT 4 Pack, and Mutant Mayhem 4 Pack. Maybe if they are able to, dust off the cancelled Back To The Sewer 6" Cyber figures, and put those Cyber Turtles in a 4 Pack(But I would say make the deco a bit more accurate to the show, not the "Bike Shorts" look that I felt they had). Granted, I think they would have to do 1 or 2 Four packs a year, and/or consider doing Series 4 Packs for different Store Exclusives, such as 1 for Target, 1 for Amazon, etc.

I also wouldn't mind if they did some Army Building 4 Packs in this style of Box Packaging, or at the very least, a Shredder with 3 Foot Soliders/Ninjas, though I think I would personally like if they did them in Toon accurate colours. I think 1 neat 4 Pack would be having a 4 pack of different colour Foot Soliders based from the Arcade Game, as the arcade game had not only cartoon accurate Purple and Black Foot Soliders, but also Foot Soilders whose Purple were replaced with White, Red, Orange for sure, as I think there may have also been a Blue 1 too(I could be wrong on that).

How many times can they release the same retro turtles? Surely everyone who wants them has them by now.

I don't. I haven't been able to find them, so I'm glad there's another chance.

Really, These things are currently out now on the retro cards in like all of the stores I go to, like why a month later are you guys just putting them in a box all together, and this is an old box, old things, same ole Playmates routine.

Only thing I've seen for at least a year are the Movie Star and Storage Shells. I hate the headsculpts of the storage shells, so I have no interest in them.

This used to be Target Exclusive. Now Walmart. Can't Playmate release them in regular retail / fan channels?
