That's perhaps the best critique I've heard yet. Honestly, watching my kids they struggle with ankle joints, especially if they are loose.

I believe SpinMaster handled the "Kid's Line" figures for DC these past five years. McFarlane didn't produce figures directed at this market.
This is fairly run of the mill sculpting by Mattel. I know a lot of people are saying it's their intro to their "kid's line", but I'm a bit underwhelmed. I think they could have put more effort into character selection & paint apps. Why skip Joker's flower on his lapel? It's the little things that make an impression running out of the gate. Yes, Mattel is a huge corporation that is assigning divisions to producing various lines within the DC license, but we're already seeing a lazy group-think in these figures. The Batmobile is OK. I'm hoping for the best, but this isn't encouraging in my humble opinion.
I would like to know if McFarlane will keep DC Direct? Mattel isn't capable of producing specialty figures, BTAS/TNBA figures, or an ongoing theatrical/digital figure line. Who will do statues? Mattel doesn't do that kind of production. It should be interesting to see how this shakes out.
Honestly like the look of these kiddie figures. The sculpts look really strong - thats a great looking Joker head. Not a huge fan of all th New 52-esque elements, but they solid and great as an entry level figure.

You know, these Mattel DC figures actually look pretty good for kids toys
