If Mattel scales in line with the old DC Direct I think its the perfect compromise and Im all in then. Smaller than that and its going to be difficult.
By the way....my favorite is the 90s TV Flash that Mattel did....still have it.

I remember when Mattell billed their 6.5 inch DC TV and Movie figures (Kilmer Batman, Burtonverse Penguin, Linda Carter Wonder woman). They were good except for Kilmers likeness but like you said....a scale of their own which was either too small or too big depending on your overall collection.
I expect good vehicles from Mattel (although I love what I have from McFarlane and dont see swapping those out) but unless their collector level figures are on par with their WWE elite line scale wise or Masterverse.....Im out, its not worth it, I ll find what I want from international lines like I did for Marvel. Again I know Im the minority here.
Yeah, I picked up a bunch of those Mattel DC TV/Movie figures and still have them on display amidst DC Collectibles and Neca figures. They were their own weird scale but somewhat fudgeable enough to work.
As always, you do you in terms of what you collect! Everyone's preferences are their own and there's nothing wrong with that.

@Jscott
You make great points. As a collector a line that mirrors WWE Elite in scale and detail appeals to me, it has a lot of potential and doesnt look odd next to the Mcafarlane figures I have. I can look to international companies to keep going with 7 inch scale if I have to but we ll see where Mattel takes it. I think their 6.5 scale is their attempt to keep collectors like me. We ll see what they end up looking like.
Youre right, most collectors likely want a scale same or close to Marvel Legends. Im the minority I know.

If Mattel goes Marvel Legends scale, then they will be seen to have listened to the thousands of collectors who have been clamoring for that since McFarlane (strangely) went with a slightly different scale. And if they stick with Masterverse scale (not likely at this point), they will be seen to have listened to McFarlane collectors who don't want to start completely over.
Cue Mattel going with an in-between scale that doesn't fit with *anything* just to annoy everyone!?
DCUC was taller than Marvel Legends at the time but smaller than Neca/WWE etc, so I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar again. Mattel did the whole 'new licensee, new scale' thing with WWE to clear the decks so people would have to buy their version of whatever character they wanted to fit in with new offerings, just like McFarlane did when they got the DC license, so I completely expect a break from McFarlane scale here. You'd think they'd go with a smaller scale anyway just to save on the plastic they have to put into figures as well as the higher levels of cross-compatibility with similar lines.

I think everyone is expecting Marvel Legends scale at this point. I think we'll know after this weekend. If those MOTU figures are Marvel Legends in scale, then I'd bet almost anything that is what the DC figures will be.
I'm not too worried either way. If Mattel treats the DC collector line like they treated Masterverse, then they will only release about 12 figures a year. What are the odds I will even want half of those? It will be like 5 years before Power GirI, Barbara Gordon Batgirl, or a decent non-movie Supergirl will appear. I won't be swapping out my McFarlane figures for years and years. So who really cares?
First of all McFarlane did an incredible job with vehicles and playsets especially considering scale. To be fair Mattel had great Bat vehicles in their premium line too...the Justice League Batmobile and Bat Pod great examples.
However.....Ive never collected 6 inch Marvel so I dont need comparable DC figures for that. I went with Marvel Select and ZDToys for my Marvel stuff (along with customs) so McFarlanes scale worked for me (mostly...he did have some scale and likeness issues).
If Mattel goes with the 6.5 inch scale they used at the end of their DC run then I wont be replacing my McFarlane DC figures....Im too deep into that collection. BUT.....if Mattel mirrors their WWE Elite scale (6.5 to 7 inch) similar to NECA then count me in Im ready. Ive customized a lot of WWE figures to work with my McFarlane DC figures and they sit really well together.
Fingers crossed I hope Mattel knows a lot of collectors dont want to swap out entire collections unless its worth committing to it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see something in that sort of vein resurrected for this run at the higher price point, and frankly I'm all for it!
Taking the license down the WWE model makes a lot of sense, especially as WWE has been a very solid performer for Mattel for over a decade straight. Something relatively cheap (but not bad) for the kiddos that parents want to give a Batman figure to, an upgraded 'main' line that puts them equivalent to Marvel Legends, and a collector-focused 'ultimate' line for the biggest characters seems a very sensible approach.
I just wish we were getting Mattel collector lines for tie-in to the DCU movies now. We're still waiting on a 'Superman' Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl or Engineer from Todd, and I don't like the odds of them ever happening at this rate.
Yeah I agree- these Batman renditions from mattel in the past could be in the future, I'd be all for it. These look very nice.

WWE figures are somewhat similar to Masterverse (or the other way around given that the WWE line came first). Bigger than 6 inch, not quite 7 inch (NECA scale) - probably around 6.5 - 6.75 inches, so a tad too tall to work with comic Marvel Legends, definitely too tall to work with MCU Legends or Star Wars Black Series.
