Mattel Replacing Their Masters Of The Unviverse Masterverse Line With New Chronicles 1/12 Line

Mattel's Masters of the Universe Mastervere line which began back in 2021 looks to be coming to an end this year to make way for their new 1/12 scale Chronicles line.

He-Man.org was the first to run this story based on what they were told by Mattel yesterday.

“While there are still Masterverse action figures in the pipeline for 2026, we will be transitioning our core offering to Chronicles later this year. We will, however, also have a number of special releases planned within the Masterverse Vintage Collection.”.

To clarify, when they say core offering they are referring to a mass retail released line. So from the sounds of this they may still sell a few Masterverse items online, probably on the MattelCreations website which we may hear more about in 2 weeks at New York Toy Fair or in March for their online Mattel Creations Revealed event that will take place on March 19.

Mattel seems to be transitioning all of their mainline action figure brands to one 1/12 scale. This includes MOTU, WWE an their upcoming DC Comic based figures which all indications suggest are a bit shorter than the average Masterverse figure.

The first wave of Chronicles figures that we saw officially announced earlier this week are all based on the upcoming live-action movie which are slated to hit shelves starting on April 25. Based on this information we assume that means Chronicles will eventually branch out to feature other iterations of the Masters of the Universe property which makes the title choice of this line sound more logical. That it will be Chronicling the stories (or more specifically figures) of all the various Masters of the Universe incarnations going back to the 80s.

When more specific details become available on all of this we will be sure to update you here and be sure to check back Saturday morning (February 14th) for complete coverage of everything Mattel has to show at the New York Toy Fair.

Too bad they ditched ankle articulation. That is really reducing my excitement for this line.

But, the Chronicles line looks great, so I guess that makes up for these shortcomings of the First Ones.

It would be great if they had presented this in the Origins line proper. Origins has great articulation and the price point is not an issue.

Liking the Skele-Knight as a trooper design. As soft a spot as I have for the 80's movie troopers, this does look more in keeping with Skeletor's design aesthetic. Will pick up a Chronicles version for sure.

These look great, and for $11 I'm glad to see actually toy priced toys. These will be great for kids & as an added bonus I think some will look good with Origins displays - these Skele-Knights especially look awesome.

Hey that's a cool Skeletor trooper dude, I find that a very neat design, I'd buy that if they made an Origins version,

Interesting Skeletor troop builder. I much prefer the '87 shock trooper look (it's less over the top skeleton), but this isn't bad.

They should have done the Skelcon, with their plague doctor type head.

Not quite, since it's a different scale. It does sound like it'll be a Masterverse replacement in the sense of drawing from various parts of the franchise, but the figures won't match with Masterverse stuff.

Until we actually have them in hand, I'm holding off on any judgments as to scale since 1:12 gets thrown around a lot without much accuracy and Mattel like having their 'heroic' proportions to scale on MOTU products. It could well still be Masterverse scale despite what they're saying - we really need to see an actual comparison. I have my fingers crossed!

The sculpt work on battlecat is motuc level and maybe a bit more.
