Mattel plans to open its first Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark in Bellevue, Nebraska, by the end of 2027, the company announced Thursday.

The approximately 100,000-square-foot, year-round waterpark is being developed in Bellevue’s Good Life District and will feature attractions based on Mattel brands including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price and UNO.

Planned attractions include a Barbie-themed activity pool and FlowRider surf simulator, a Hot Wheels multi-slide tower, a lazy river incorporating Mattel Games themes such as UNO, Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots and Magic 8 Ball, and a Fisher-Price water-play structure. The facility will also include themed food and beverage offerings.

The climate-controlled waterpark is being designed with a retractable roof that will allow natural light and fresh air into the facility while enabling year-round operation.

Mattel said American Resort Management, which operates waterparks including Epic Waters and Wild Rivers, will oversee the facility’s day-to-day operations.

“Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks are about bringing great experiences to where our fans actually live,” Natalia Premovic, Mattel’s chief consumer products and experiences officer, said in a statement. “Bellevue becoming our first Waterpark to open is an important step in that strategy.”

Construction is underway at the Bellevue site, which is being developed through a collaboration among Mattel, the City of Bellevue and American Resort Management.

Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike said the project represents an investment in the community and is expected to draw visitors from across the region.

Mattel has announced four of five planned North American waterpark locations. In addition to Bellevue, the company has identified sites in Orlando, Florida; Bradley, Illinois; and Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

The Bellevue waterpark is currently scheduled to open at the end of 2027.
