While last month was Yo-Joe June, July will see both the
San Diego Comic Con and the
Walmart Collector-Con happening. So what might that mean for
G.I. Joe Classified collectors?
Well first
Walmart has officially announced the dates for their
Collector-Con event as starting
July 21 at 7am PT/10am PT. For this I would expect to see the remaining
G.I. Joe 6" Retro Cardback figures to be put up for pre-order. We know this
Walmart exclusive line will see a total of
8 figures released. Previously and still available for pre-order on the Walmart website are the
Baroness, Lady Jaye, Destro and
Gung-Ho (Classic Look). We also know from Hasbro's Live-Streams that
Zartan and
Storm Shadow will be released in this line and
Hasbro has confirmed that
Cobra Commander WILL NOT be part of the line. So we still are waiting to find out what the final two figures will be.
Then we have the
San Diego Comic Con itself which takes place
July 20-24. We know
Hasbro will be attending. Hasbro will be holding a
G.I. Joe Classified panel on Saturday July 23 at 3:00pm ET.
We also know
Hasbro will be selling their
Comic-Con exclusives on their
HasbroPulse website at some point with the exclusives shipping at a later date.
Hasbro will not be selling their exclusives at the Con this year.
Hasbro has not yet revealed the day on which they will make the exclusives available online.
Hasbro has not yet announced what their
G.I. Joe Classified exclusive will be this year, but I suspect it will be that
Deluxe Dr. Mindbender figure that images surfaced online for a few months ago thanks to the overseas retailer InDemand Toys. Who by the way has been recently showing off
Hasbro's Star Wars SDCC exclusives. My guess the deluxe version with all the accessories will be the Con exclusive and then we will see a regular
Mindbender released in the line at a later date.
Finally there is the
Classified Sgt Slaughter figure Hasbro revealed which they said would be available around SDCC time. This figure is a Fan-Channel exclusive which means it will be available at places like our sponsors
BigBadToyStore.com and
Entertainment Earth. I expect this figure will go up for pre-order on
July 21.
It's not clear to me if
Hasbro will be making the actual
Slaughter figure available in some fashion at Comic-Con itself or if it will just be online pre-orders.
For those attending the Comic-Con, you can expect to see a production model of the newly funded
G.I. Joe Classified Haslab H.I.S.S. Tank on display at the
Hasbro booth. As to what else Hasbro might have on display or announce at Comic-Con remains a mystery for now, but you can be assured we will be bringing you full coverage of it here on TNI.
