Bandai S.H.Figuarts My Hero Academia Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo + Plus Ultra Option Parts Set Review and Images

This week, we're having a look at the S.H.Figuarts My Hero Academia Figures of Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo from Bandai/Tamashii Nations, along with the Plus Ultra Option Parts set, which turned out not to be that 'optional' after all, since all the best parts are in it! Oh yeah, and the figures are great too!



Izuku Midoriya, aka Deku, is one of the main protagonist of the manga/anime My Hero Academia (If you're unfamiliar with MHA, I highly suggest checking out the anime!). There has been already multiple brands that did My Hero Academia figures (figma, Revoltech, McFarlane Toys, Jazwares...) but Bandai went with the suit from the latest season (Season 7), which gave them the advantage of being first with it. The figure comes with 4 face plates, 3 hair parts, a cowl (with articulated peg), 3 pairs of hands and one hand with Blackwhip effect. For this figure, believe the hype! It's AWESOME. It moves really good, look great in tons of poses, the paint and details are great,... It's the perfect Deku (in that specific suit).














Katsuki Bakugo, aka Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight (yeah, they let him pick their hero name...), is another great figure, also using the most recent suit. He comes with 5 face plates, a separate head without the holes for the 'wings', 4 pairs of hands, and explosive effects that attach to the hands. Just like Deku, he moves beautifully, looks great and is fun to handle (apart from the spikey parts!). The explosive effects are transparent and look great in his hands. A great figure for a not-so-great character (he is Deku's rival since childhood, but I feel the character has no redeemable qualities at this point after 7 seasons of being a bully/d**khead to everyone ^^).














The Plus Ultra Option Parts set is essential (contrary to what the name leads us to believe) and will turn both those figures up to 11. In this set, you get full cowl lightning effects to put all over Deku, pink lightning effects and the hands with the flicking fingers for Deku which are 100% needed, and wide-range explosion effect parts + hands, interchangeable forearms and the whole Suppressive Heavy Mobile Unit: Strafe Panzer equipment for Katsuki (6 guns with moveable arms), and on top of that you get 4 acrylic text effects with stand to display them with. The figures definitely feel more complete with that set, I will display Deku with all the lightnings and Katsuki with all the guns and big explosions.




















Tamashii Nations has already announced a few more characters for the My Hero Academia line, including Shoto Todoroki or Ochaco Uraraka, along with Dabi as the first villain for the line. More will certainly follow, this series has a vast ensemble cast with all the characters getting to shine at one moment or another. I hope Bandai goes deep with that line. Those figures are a home-run!
