There is a new company on the block in the world of action figures, and their name is
Capo Toys. Led by toy sculptor Rocco Tartamella, the new company announced they have obtained the license to produce 7" action figures based on Capcom's Street Fighter video game series. The initial figure offerings will be based on the Ultra Street Fighter IV video game, and we will be seeing such characters as
Ryu, Sagat, Guile, Chun-Li and
Blanka in the first wave. For the second wave, they hope to release an additional 5-10 characters. In total, they hope to get 4-5 waves released in total.
The figures will be in 7" scale with the smallest character in the line Sakura standing 6" tall, while the tallest Sagat will be 9" tall. The figures will have 19 to 24 points of articulation, and some will feature real cloth accessories and clothing. In the first wave, Ryu will feature a real cloth Gi and headband while Sagat will have real cloth used for his “Tiger” Kick Boxing Trunks. Colored variant figures will be offered as well as Con exclusives. The series will kick off with exclusive figures at the annual fighting game tournament called Evo, which takes place in Las Vegas from July 11-13 and the San Diego Comic Con which takes place on July 24-27. After that, Capo Toys hopes to have the first series of figures out by Fall 2014.
No word yet on price or where which retailers will be carrying these, but they do say they will be selling them direct on their website at
CapoToys.com and on Amazon. They will also be attending the New York Toy Fair next month,
booth #5042 where I am sure we will be hearing more about this line.
Figures.com, who first broke the news about this line, has posted an interview with sculptor and co-owner of the company Rocco Tartamella where he goes in-depth about what they have in store for Street Fighter.
