New 5" BST AXN Articulated Action Figures From Loyal Subjects - Big Trouble In Little Chnia, LOTR, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto And More

We got our first glimpse of these back in February during Toy Fair. They are a new line of 5" articulated action figures called BST AXN that are being released by Loyal Subjects. At Toy Fair we were allowed to take pictures of their Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist figures, but they also had on hand their Naruto figures that we were not allowed to take images of. Since then however it seems Loyal Subjects has been hard at work expanding the line to include a number of additional figures from various properties. Thanks to the overseas etailer Games and Comics we have a look at quit a few of them. It should be noted many of the figures shown are possibly still early production samples of some kind. Shown below in our GALLERY are the following figures:

-AC/DC Angus Young
-Big Trouble In Little China Lightning
-Cowboy Bebop Spike Spiegel
-Cowboy Bebop Vicious
-Fullmetal Alchemist Alphonse Elric
-Fullmetal Alchemist Edward Elric
-Guns N' Roses Slash
-KISS The Demon
-LOTR Gandalf
-Napoleon Dynamite
-Naruto Kakashi Hatake
-Naruto Naruto Uzumaki

It seems like a pretty random choice of characters being done. With ones like Gandalf from LOTR and Lightning from Big Trouble In Little China, it will be interesting to see if those are one and done figures or if they plan on flushing out those properties with more figures down the road. The figures do have accessories including weapons and multiple pairs of hands. It looks like the figures will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 each. It's unclear if these will only be made available online or if any major retailers will be picking them up. As more details become available we will be sure to update you.

I like that they are doing a Buffy, pretty strange character selections from this line, I actually think it's pretty rad to see such a variety, I don't like the scale wish they were 6' , but I am interested to see what the buffy ends up looking like, just for fun I'd probably grab it.

They look very plain and very cheap, and I don't think it's just the pictures. Another company, Character Options, which has been making 5" figures for Doctor Who, was leaps and bounds ahead of this stuff in terms of likenesses and detail from the very beginning more than twelve years ago. These things seem to excel in terms of articulation, but as far as everything else goes, they are very very far behind.

We showed you these figures before, but the folks at Loyal Subjects continue to roll out new images for figures in their new 5" BST AXN line. While not a store exclusive, Walmart seems to be the primary place to find these figures right now and the ones should be on shelves by 10/15. This batch of images gives us new looks at the following figures:-AC-DC Angus Young-Big Trouble In Little China Lightning-Cowboy Bebop Spike Spiegel-Cowboy Bebop Vicious-Napoleon Dynamite

The Gandalf figure looks pretty good. Hopefully, they do some of the other main characters from LOTR.

Not for anything, but has anyone really asked for 5 inch LOTR figures?

I don't think anything will ever come close to the Toybiz line and I don't expect it too since there are no films to support the line. We will probably get less figures that the Hobbit franchise.

It's part of a bigger line comprised of many different properties that are popular in pop culture enthusiast circles. It's basically like Super7's Reaction line except they're a bit larger and feature double the articulation and are boxed instead of carded. There will be something for everyone, and there is a new LOTR series coming and a new game featuring everyone's favorite Precious spouting weirdo, so there will be a bit of demand for it probably.

Really happy to see the final versions for Gandalfadded the bicep swivel. I really like how these turned out overall. I hope they have more lord of the rings figures planned beyond Gandalf and Sauron.

These don't look bad but I want to see more characters from some of these properties before I decide if I want to buy into it.
