February 15, 2022
Paramount is finally gearing up to begin production on the next Star Trek film and has begun talks again with Chris Pine to reprise James T. Kirk. The studio has intentions to bring back Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Lieutenant Uhura, Karl Urban as Dr. Bones McCoy, John Cho as Sulu, and Simon Pegg as Scotty.

Matt Shakman is already on board to direct with J.J. Abrams producing. The base draft was done by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet with Shakman supervising a draft by Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires. Plotlines are being kept under wraps as Abrams verified this information during today’s ViacomCBS Investor Day conducted by Paramount Pictures president/CEO Brian Robbins.

Shakman has directing credit with episodes of Game of Thrones, Fargo, The Great, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and just finished up directing the Marvel/Disney+ series WandaVision, which was nominated for 23 Emmys.

Paramount has over-saturated Star Trek again. This happened with ST:TNG, DS9 & Voyager all on the air at the same time. The TNG movies started to slow down and then they added Enterprise. The Star Trek franchise just didn't seem special anymore.

Same now; Discovery, Strange New Worlds and 2 animated series, with new series planned. Give it a break.

There were never more than two Star Trek shows on the air at a time before Paramount+/CBS All Access. Voyager premiered 8 months after the TNG series finale.

I know that trak fans don't really like these JJ movies, but I really enjoyed them and they were 100 times better than JJ's Star Wars movies, so I kinda look forward to it although I would love to see that rumored Quentin Tarantino Star Trek movie.

I thought the first abrams st movie was really good. And I really enjoyed the musical score. I liked it as much as shatner or Picard and I really like both of those.
