James Gunn Begins Searching To Find The Next Clark Kent, Lois Lane, And Lex Luthor For His 'Superman: Legacy'

Sources from within have informed Deadline that James Gunn has started working through audition tapes for the main roles for his next project Superman: Legacy. The whole process has Gunn watching every tape and will make a decision in months to come.

The director is looking for talent for the main roles of Clark Kent aka Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor. This will be a lengthy process but the likes of Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, Jacon Elordi, and Alan Ritchson are among the actors for the Superman role. As for the role of Lois Lane, Gunn has scene tapes from Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, and Samara Weaving, among others.

Gunn hasn't decided on the direction he wants for Lex Luthor. While Gunn has been looking into names he has worked with in the past, sources say one role has simply marked "Apex," which could mean Apex Lex Luthor, who is not only a version of the villain that has the strength to fight Superman but also would hint at a potential multiverse situation as Apex Lex did have run-ins with other Luthors in various dimensions.

Wendell Pierce has been selected to portray the legendary editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet in James Gunn's Superman.

Perry White is a longstanding character in the Man of Steel universe, debuting in a Superman radio serial back in 1940. He serves as the superior of both Kent and Lane, embodying various personas across different adaptations, such as a stern boss, a boss overwhelmed by his reporters, or a paternal figure.

In this upcoming film, David Corenswet takes on the role of Clark Kent/Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan portrays the Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane. The ensemble cast also features Nicholas Hoult as the classic antagonist Lex Luthor. Joining Gunn's lineup are Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), and Mara Gabriela de Fara (The Engineer).

Nooo that Logo isn't it, please Gunn don't do it.

honestly I was kinda hyped about this movie, but after seeing that Logo I'm getting face palm feelings, don't be driving down some wacky lane, keep it simple.

I agree. I would never let the design of the symbol ruin the movie for me if it's good, but it can give us an idea of the headspace that the creators are in. The abritrary changes seem odd to me, and it doesn't look "right." It makes me wonder what else they won't get right. Again, it's too early to tell, but it doesn't inspire confidence.

James Gunn has provided an update on the production start window for the upcoming film Superman: Legacy, set to release in 2025. In a recent discussion on Threads, Gunn addressed a report that included a plot synopsis and production start window for the film. While he acknowledged that certain elements of the synopsis were based on his previous statements, he clarified that he did not write the logline himself. Additionally, Gunn expressed that he would not describe the plot in the same way and disagreed with referring to Clark Kent as a cub reporter. Instead, he emphasized that Clark is a fully established reporter in his thirties. Despite these clarifications, Gunn did confirm that filming for Superman: Legacy is scheduled to commence in March 2024. He expressed gratitude towards the production team for their dedication in overcoming various challenges and ensuring the film's progress, as any delays would have jeopardized the planned release date of July 2025.

Hold on.... is the text in this article just, most of the Deadline article, run through ChatGPT to reword it? Cuz it really really seems that way.

It may come across that way but the Deadline article used a lot of quotes which I used but as just text paragraphs instead of quotes. There are a lot of media sites that cover this material so just trying to have our articles sound a little more clean and professional. I rewrote it as a "dumb-down" version which you can read below to see the difference.

James Gunn revealed a storyboard sketch shot featuring David Corenswet in the iconic role of the superhero. Gunn told social media fans that the camera would be pulling back alongside the character. The arrows represented camera movement, while the thin arrows indicated subject movement. Gunn also mentioned that the costume was almost complete. The design is finished, but some things are being fixed. Gunn said that the movie's music and the major themes have all been composed and the opening logo sequence for DC Studios when his DCU debut takes place.
